Default What is DMSO oil?

What is DMSO oil?

I've heard the buzz and would like to know what some people may think it is.

Thanks

DMSO, Dimethyl Sulphoxide, is a byproduct of paper production from wood. It is used mainly as a commercial solvent but some people also use it as a sort of "folk medicine" because it absorbs quickly through the skin and can transport other compounds with it. It is often used for muscle aches and arthritis type conditions. You probably can't get it from your doctor, but some pharmacists do sell it. One of the unusual characteristics of it is that it will make your breath smell awful.

Try at a feed store. It was used originally and still is used for sore muscles on horses. If you get any cut it about 50% with water till you get used to it.It will make your mouth taste like garlic but it sure works on sore or pulled muscles.

It actually does have certain medical uses, but I'd be very wary of using something used as a chemical solvent without a physician's advice. It is used for the treatment of interstitial cystitis. It does have certain risks involved with its use, and is not approved for use as a nutritional supplement.

More info here.

I've heard of people using it as a scent on their eggs, something about the oyster flavor, huh?
