Default Ode To A Chicken...

"Ode To A Chicken That Died Suddenly And Wasn't The Mean One But It's Pretty Much O.K."

By: Cool Texan

Friendly chicken, owned by Ms. Jennie
Eating seeds all day
Among all the many.

Waking up one day, not feeling so well
Chicken asked for sympathy
But the mean one told it to simply go to...heck.

Affairs were wrapped up, its bed was neatly made
Sadly the chicken knew
That its last egg had been laid.

The chicken is gone, we lift its sprits higher
There's not much more to say,
So someone turn on the fryer!

Ok...there is my "Ode To A Chicken That Died Suddenly And Wasn't The Mean One But It's Pretty Much O.K." as requested by Thumper. This completes my apology to Jennie, and I am officially out of the dog house on iFish.

That said...I also write anniversary and birthday cards.

CT your ode to a chicken has touched my soul, i may dedicate my life now to finding a cure for chicken pox... as soon as i finish this bucket from the kentucky fried ill commence my mourning... Dorkfish, here is a synopsis of the whole story:

1) Jennie's chicken dies
2) She posts a message about it
3) I ask if she is having a BBQ at her place that night.
4) Everyone on iFish thinks I am an insensitive jerk, that my post was very "revealing" to someone who doesnt know me, and that someone USED to think I was a nice guy.
5) I wonder when everyone lost their sense of humor.
6) I email Jennie to apologize in case she is really offended.
7) She is not.
8) She asks if we should bake it, fry it or BBQ it.
9) Thumper says I should post an ode to the dead chicken which wasnt the mean one but its ok.
10) The aforemention ode is posted on this thread.
11) Souls have been touched, tears have been shed.
12) I respond to your post about missing the story.
13) I log off the computer to get some sleep after seeing the Warren Miller film tonight.

G'night

Poor ol' Cool Texan
He seems so ashamed,
It seems that his barbeque,
Went up in Flames,

His image is tarnished,
Well no I think not,
But look at the Furor
That Chicken has Wrought,

So gather round folks,
Texan, say a few words,
lets raise up a statue,
To a glorious BIRD

CT, We have all mourned the loss of her chicken... :depressed: The Ode to a chicken was very well done.... Now as far as baked..fried or whatever.. My vote is for fried  Fry that bird in hot oil after dipping it in buttermilk...then flour seasoned with salt and lots of pepper...get it extra crispy....remove from pan..drain on paper towels...Add some of the leftover seasoned flour to the pan drippings...cook the Roux a bit...then add whole milk till you get a creamy pan gravy...and ladle over steam'n hot fresh mashed potatoes....made with butter and sour cream instead of milk  OMG!!!!

1pump,

This was my first Warren film, and I was very impressed. Very well put together, some amazing skiing/boarding, and all sorts of comedy. Very enjoyable, and very motivating to go hit the mountains! I'd definately recommend the movie.
