Default VHF Radio Help

Hey all, I'm looking for a good VHF radio, Perferably a handheld. Cheaper the better but I want somthing that's going to work halfway decent. Like to keep a price range of about $80 to $100. Any recomendations of wich one and where to get it?

Thanks in advance

CM

How about a middle of the road model?

As long as you are not locked on a handheld there are some pretty decent fixed mounts out there for the same price as the middle to upper handhelds. Extra cost with the fixed--antenna and installation, but 5 times the output with much better range.

I was throwing the idea around for a fixed mount. Was kinda wanting somthing portable that way I can swap it between the 2 boats. But the handhelds for that price sound like garbage. Thanks for the input. You guy's probably saved me a few headaches.

Thanks

Get one that isn't portable and get a Standard Horizon. Excellent radios. We have had one for 10 years and it works like new. Have some friends with hummingbirds and they could throw a rock as far as the range capability of it. Don't know about the other brands, but go Standard and you won't regret it.
