Don't forget Support Your Local Sheriff, and Support Your Local Gunfighter.

He was hillarious in both of those movies.

I will miss him.

I loved the way he would give people the goofy eye.

As I recall he was an accounant before becoming an actor. With that eye he could probably read two ledgers at once.
He was in a Disney movie called "Hawmps" and in one scene he's sillouted against the skyline, festooned with an amazing collection of armaments, looking like a porcupine on a bad hair day. I can't remember the entire line but it did include the phrase, "I'm walking death!". One of the funniest scenes ever filmed.

What a memorble character! I can remember him in everything, from Saturday's at the Hood Theater, to Hoss The Trail Boss! Alway's figured, Jack & the Duke were brothers. IMHO

Was just talking about him with a friend a couple of weeks ago- he was one of the greats!
Gunsmoke really cast him well, albeit, perhaps without regard to previous roles-I think he was one of Festus's cousins, and multiple times a "dirty, low down, onry, flea bitten. poor excuse for a cowboy"(aka a dirty, lieing thief).

Default Jack Elam passed away

Many don't recongnize him by name but they do when they see his photo.

Jack Elam is seen in this July 1979 publicity file photo for a CBS television show, 'Struck By Lightning', died Monday Oct. 20, 2003 at his home in Ashland, OR. of an unspecified illness, according to longtime friend Al Hassan. A family friend announced Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2003 that Elam, a character actor and favorite Western villain who menaced good-guy cowboys with his crazy grin, menacing eyes and remorseless gunslinging in films such as Rawhide and Wichita, has died.

Here is a list of his films.

He will be missed.

If there was ever a couple of men I would like to hang around the campfire with it would have been these two...

pdxk-Wouldn't that have been a hoot! Man, they could tell some stories! I could see old Jack telling one and you're looking intently at him and then he stares right at you with that eye! It would be too much fun.

As A huge movie fan this is a sad thing.
But not as sad as the fact that yesterday kgw.com didn't even list the fact Jack as an Oregonian had died at all, but that the guy ( Fred Barry) who played rerun on a tv show for 2 years topped their site and nothing said of a fellow Oregonian who was a great character actor died.
Oh but they had no problem mentioning you better watch out for your black cat that maybe abducted for a satanic ritual.

But thats how our media is these days.

I met him once playing cards in a casino here in Oregon. He was so cool.
