9.9 Merc handle problem

I have a 04 merc 9.9 4 stroke kicker motor that the handle has suddenly become loose at the joint if that makes seance kind of hard to explain, anyway had it over to stevens and they said a bushing has broke and needs to be drilled out and it would be cheaper to buy a new handle, The cost ia 78.00 for the handle labor and everthing total cost 278.00! They already are doing work to my big motor and so I told them to hold off on the kicker, Im wondering if I could install the handle myself has anyone had this happen to there 9.9 merc? From what I could gather were the handle makes the bend a bushing and or screw snapped off and needs to be drilled out and repaced its real annoying cause the handle now just flops up and down!!

I changed mine, it was a little bit of a hassle, but not bad. I bought the handle and there was no way I was going spend another 200.00 to have it installed.
