Peter Cetera Fans???
Last night on OPB during the 10pm hour OPB had Peter Cetera in concert. Really enjoyed hear quality music on TV for a change. The o'l boy has lost a little range but can still belt out the high notes. Just can't sustain them like he use to.
Caught myself singing along with all those old songs and was surprised how many of the words to each of them I remembered. Heck the wife even snuggle up next to me during the program. Just a great ending to a very long day.

Re: Peter Cetera Fans???
Never was a Chicago or Peter Cetera fan, but a few weeks ago I saw Chicago on OPB and thought I'd give it a listen. Dang! They were/are a pretty cool band! So, last night when Peter Cetera came on I thought I'd give it a listen..... maybe I had missed something. I think the guy is such a cheese ball. What I kept thinking was that he was adding an extra helping of cheese to cover his loss in range.
just my 2 cents....

Re: Peter Cetera Fans???
I saw the chicago concert too and turned it off. They were so far off key and they sounded terrible. Not the Chicago I remember. Kind of like the beach boys, rightous brothers and so on. Some should know when to quit.
Cetera was a little cheezy but you have to remember the setting he was in. Not exactly Rock Central.

Re: Peter Cetera Fans???
I think I flipped by the Peter Cetera concert on my way to the JUDAS PRIEST reunion concert on PPV. Did I miss something special..oh well, maybe next time...NOT!
Messin with ya C&E...not a Cetara fan at all, in fact, the guy bugs me... in a Micheal Bolton sort of way.

Re: Peter Cetera Fans???
C&E,
Saw the Peter Cetera special on OPB also. Thought he still sounded pretty dang good!! He has lost a little range, but still belted it out pretty well!! The Chicago concert a couple months ago was lacking something major, and the other night, it dawned on me...what they were missing was Peter Cetera! You're right...they're not the old Chicago of the early days.

Re: Peter Cetera Fans???
OK, this is getting scary.......I open the paper this morning and on the front page of the Living section I see......I....see....(choke)....
AIR SUPPLY!!
Then C&E starts a Peter Cetera thread, and RVW adds to the bad karma by mentioning the King of Cheeseballs himself, MICHAEL BOLTON!!
There is way, way too much bad mojo today. I'm gonna go lock the doors and hide under the bed before somebody starts a Celene Dion or American Idol thread.

<font size="2" face="verdana, arial, helvetica">I saw her on VH-1. She was doing covers of AC/DC. It didn't stink. I like her taste in music.

Re: Peter Cetera Fans???
Boy everyone is a critic. I liked Chicago when Cetera was with them. After that...... :depressed: I guess you look more cheezy doing the stuff Cetera did at his age. Guess it would have been different when he was younger. I still like Cetera and always will. Must be because I'm old or something right Stew.
It was nice to hear quality music on tv instead of all the hip hop crap that you get with commercials and such. At least it is music and it aint even country.

<font size="2" face="verdana,arial,helvetica">Ya got a point there!
And at least you won't hear about Cetera and Celine being involved in a drive-by or writing songs about killing cops.
And they've made a ton of money over the years, so I guess people are buying their records. Just a little too mainstream for this ol' boy.
As far as American Idol goes, check out this excerpt from a recent issue of Time:
Quote:
|
Ask the employees at Clay Aiken's record label, RCA, if they would listen to Aiken's debut album, Measure of a Man, by choice, and the response is almost uniform: a lengthy pause followed by laughter.
|
<font size="2" face="verdana, arial, helvetica">The same article went on to quote an anonymous record company exec who said that American Idol proves that "people have no taste".
