Default Don`t you just love it when--

You`re sitting at a traffic light a half second after you get the green light, and the #%*#^#@! jerk behind you lays on his/her horn!! What is your usual reaction? Fishft.

I go.............it was my understanding that's what a green light means.

Either that, or you could wait until the light turns yellow and scoot through and leave Mr-I'm-in-a-hurry to sit through another light.

Whichever works for you.......

Hey- they're honkin' at you so you should put the car in park, get out and walk back and ask him what he (she) wants! (Maintaining a perfectly innocent nice smile and demeanor of course).
That really gets 'em worked up! It's worth missing a couple lights for!

Hey, maybe it is just me, but I think that if you are sitting in line for a red light you need to pay enough attention to what you are doing that you notice when the light turns green.

I know that cel phone is important and whatever has crawled up yer nose really needs to be dug out of there, but how about keeping at least one eye on the light so that nobody has to remind you that you are sitting in traffic and everybody else is waiting on you to bust a move!

Now I have only been driving for the last 35 years or so but I can't remember anybody ever having to remind me that the light has turned green.

If you really feel the need to come back and see what I am honking at, feel free. Make sure you keep your adjusting-my-makeup self real close to your car though because this big green turbo-diesel will be wheelin' out from behind your parked jalopy and cruising on down the road!

'Course, I could be wrong............

Yesterday as I was driving home, some guy got just a few feet off of my bumper. If he's that impatient, I'll give him a reason to be impatient, so I slow down to under ten miles per hour. All I need is to have to hit the brakes for a kid or a cat (lots of both in my neighborhood) and have this guy rear end me. Not much chance of that as slow as I go if someone starts tailgating me. If it were me, I'd go through the intersection V E R Y S L O W L Y.... I wouldn't want someone to be impatient for no reason, so I'm happy to give them one.

I heard of one gentleman, who, when in this very situation, got out of his car, walked back to the horn honker and told him that he would honk his horn if he (the honker) would go start his car!!

Well thanx for the input everybody! Let me re-phrase my last. The light turns green and some jerk immediately lay`s on the horn. No half sec. after. I don`t own a cell phone and I darn sure don`t wear makeup. I was staring directly at the light. I`ve been driving for way longer than 35 years. In my experience,(SOME) people that drive big honking trucks and big boats, are trying to compensate for something.  On a lighter note, The slow trip through the light is a good idea, and I`ve done that. Waiting for the yellow light, I`ll have to try that! Good Idea! As far as going back to have a conversation with the "honker" seems like a good way to get shot, in this day and age. Thanks again all! Later, Fishft.

Fishfeet,

Don’t worry about it. I’m a bit slow when the light is green too because of all the idiots that drive around Mac seem to have forgotten what the RED light means. Last week I almost got t-boned at 99 and McDonald. Light turns green and I start to go but then see this guy heading right for me and he isn’t even on the brakes. I’m already committed and in the intersection waiting to get plowed when he finally figures it out when he sees me. He stopped about 6 feet from me in a smoking skid with his eyes as big as saucers. What in the world do folks in Mac think about when driving? WaterDog.. I know what you mean man. For a town of Mac`s size, it seems they have an over abundance of rude and careless drivers. Although I admit I`m not the worlds best by any means, but I have been lucky enough to avoid any accidents in my career.(Not counting a few off road motorcycle type). Knock on wood. You were really lucky there on hwy 99. I think the speed limit there is 40 mph. That would really have stung. :depressed: Maybe see ya around town one of these days. Later, Fishft.

Awww, shucks, that ain't nuttin'. How about the guy that flashes his brights at you because you a) signaled a lane change for (more than) an appropriate amount of time and b) ensured there was PLENTY of room to mosey on over, going the same rate of speed that all the others in that lane were travelling. I can see flashing brights to let a person know it is cool to go ahead and change lanes (on an open highway), but on crowded surface streets and after the change is complete? That's just plain rude...

Or (and this is my personal favorite) - you're driving 5 mph under the speed limit - because the car directly in front of you has set the pace - and the jerk behind you starts flashing lights, honking horn and making gestures... as if the person in front of you (or the person in front of them) can reap the benefit of all this energy.

OB. That sounds like Wallace road between Salem and Dayton. They dont seem to notice there is a slower car in front of you, and besides that it is a no passing area and no shoulders on the road. Wadoyado?? Especially bad on dark rainy nights and on come the brights. We all need those high speed "trunk monkeys" that Lost Sailor brought up. Great commercial by the way! Fishft.

If I've been zoning out and realize I did wait a few seconds I don't care if they honk... either way I usually let it roll off my back. People need to learn to relax a bit - if you're running late it's not my problem. If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. No need for me to get worked up over some schmuck.

I usually don't honk at people in front of me waiting on a green unless it's been a few seconds...

Right on StinkyH! Pretty much my attitude also, BUT, occasionly it does irritate a little. When I get the old finger treatment I usually just wave and nod my head with a big grin on my face. This has had a remarkable effect on a couple of people. It`s funny as h___l to see them do a double take.  Later, Fishft.

I go. Who knows why the person "really" needs to go. Are they trying to get home because they got a call about an injured kid? On the way to the emergency room? Just had way too many shots of espresso?

Who knows and who cares... Why let their frantic day ruin yours?

Maybe is was one of those people who own a little car or little boat and are trying to take out their frustration with their inability to afford a larger car/boat on you? Or are frustrated that you aren't living life in the way they had deemed correct based on your driving habit or choice in vehicle/boat?
