George C. Scott
Hi yall!! I have an on going discussion here at work concerning the above famous actor. We were discussing some of the great movies that he made in his life time. Someone mentioned a western he starred in back in the early or mid "70`s". But no one can remember the name of it. Any and all help would be mucho appreciated. Thanx, Fishft.

Re: George C. Scott
Hi Fishfeet! I found a western that George C. Scott was in with Barry Sullivan and John Drew Barrymore that was released in 1969. It was titled "This Savage Land" Don't know if this is what your were looking for or not,but it's the only western I could find that he was in during that time frame. Good luck in your search for the obscure!!

"I'm trying to get some sleep, sir."
"Well, get back down there then.....you're the only SOB in this whole outfit who knows what he's trying to do."

Re: George C. Scott
If the Academy could only give out one Oscar for Best Actor for the last 50 years, it would be George C. Scott in Patton, IMHO.

Re: George C. Scott
Hey thanx Brion!! I don`t think I`ve seen that one. Hemmingway was a great author and quite a fisherman from what I`ve seen and read over the years. Too bad he had to go and do himself in like that, great loss for the world. Thanx again. Fishft.

Re: George C. Scott
Hey DanS- There were several movies made that were based on Papa Hemminway`s books. All were good. Just some were better than others. George C Scott was very good at portraying great men. Yeh, Patton was excellent too. Later, Fishft.

Re: George C. Scott
A somewhat little-known movie he made was "They Might be Giants," in which he played a mental patient who thought he was Sherlock Holmes. Of course his shrink was a lady named Dr. Watson, who was always getting dragged along on his adventures trying to snare Professor Moriarty. It's an enjoyable, light-hearted movie - a far cry from his performance as Patton, which was a real tour de force.

Re: George C. Scott
Yep, gotta second "Dr Strangelove or how I learned to love the bomb" as a must see.
Slim Pickens and the bomb bull ride, hat waving and whoopin and spurrin all the way down with 'When Johnnie comes rolling home' in the background as a score during the bomb run in the B52. Peter Sellers playing 3 or 4 roles at the same time in the same scene talking to and answering himself and of course the madman played by George C. Scott.
It's a classic.
Hey Brion, where can I find a copy of 'Islands in the stream'? Can't find it ... out of print.

Anybody ever see "Day of the dolphins" with George C. Scott? Came out in the early 70`s. Not a bad movie but pretty good.

Re: George C. Scott
George C Scott was a great actor. I liked some of his politics too.
That was one reason he did Hardcore. It has great social comentary that applies even more today.
I am a big film fan and can ponit people to different databases. Allot of the more common web sites only list films that are available on video not an actor or diretors full body of work.

Peter Boyle was good in that movie as well.

Re: George C. Scott
I highly recomend HARDCORE for any parent. Especialy christian parents. It's subject matter is very relivant to today's issues.
I know so many that think this would never happen with my children. Yet then they find out on down the line that there child got involved in the adult trades while working for colledge money or something.

Re: George C. Scott
I remeber as a kid being freaked out by the talking porpoises in "Day of the Dolphin".
Of course, the flying monkeys in Wizard of Oz freaked me out too.
