Lowrance won't power up
My co-worker is having problems with his Lowrance model LMS 337 CDF.
2 or 3 years old. Put the boat in this weekend and the unit wouldn't power up. He's getting plenty of power through the cable (to the unit) but nothing at all when turned on.
Any suggestions?
45 minutes on hold today with Lowrance's customer service before he had to bail, so no help there. Several retailers in the area are willing to look at it, but was hoping someone here might have a suggestion before having to drive to P-Town.
Thanks, Scott

Re: Lowrance won't power up
I recently sent my back to Lowrance. Try them early in morning, hopefully when you can do something else while listening to the hold music and waiting for them to pick up. It all worked out in the end, I received the unit back and it is working great.

Re: Lowrance won't power up
They told me to pop the fuses out after trying to turn it on. that did the trick for mine. hope it helps.

Re: Lowrance won't power up
Did you check the fuses. and is this unit wired though it's own
switch or fuse buss, and not direct to the battery.
wiring them direct will take them out sooner or later.
It has something to do with power surges from starting the engine.

Re: Lowrance won't power up
IF it's not the inline fuse, or a faulty connection causing too much resistance, your friend is probably SOL on that out-of-warranty unit.
YOU CAN SAVE TIME by skipping the 45 minute phone calls and create a return authorization (RMA) form online at their site.

Re: Lowrance won't power up
If you have power to the unit, it may need rebooting.
Remove the power from the unit. I turn the toggle off.
Add power back to the unit, I flip the toggle up.
Soft boot:
At the same time, push down on the power button and the pages key and hold it until a screen comes to life, usually, a map of the US.
If this doesn't work.................??????
Good Luck

Re: Lowrance won't power up
I have a 2006 model 337 with about 66 tach hours on it as it runs when the motor is usually on. It suddenly started flashing the screen and would freeze up all the control buttons. I tried all the above recommended repair attempts to no avail. After doing some homework I found it had a faulty control panel on front and is a common occurence. Cost is 200 bucks to repair from factory. After doing some reading various blogs on this unit and my low hours, never exposed to weather elements, I decided to save the 200 bucks and spring for a new model HDS 5. 50 hours so far all is well.

Re: Lowrance won't power up
did he leave it out in the rain overnight? I did and now mine has water in it and won't power up. I though they were supposed to be sealed.

Re: Lowrance won't power up
Thanks for all of the replies, much appreciated.
It turns out it was the inline fuse after all. He had checked it originally and it looked fine. The break was so small that he couldn't see it, but it was definitely enough to break the circuit when the unit was under a load.
Thanks again, some good tips here in case I ever have problems.
Co-worker also says thank you very much.
Scott
