Default need advise on Yamaha 225 4-stroke

Just purchased a 2003 Yamaha 4-stroke with Prop. Seems to me that it is not getting much top end and wondering if anyone out there has had same problem? Currently do not have SS prop., any suggestions on pitch?
Thanks

What boat is it on? What pitch? Are you working off of a GPS, or a mechanical speedometer?

Unless the boat is a monster, mid 40s to 50s sounds about right. Maybe a tad more.

the 225 is on a 24 ft. North River Sea Hawk. The reason for my question is that I have heard rumors that some guides have juiced these motors up for better performance, was hoping for some first hand feedback. The prop (not stainless) I have now is the one that came with it, not sure of the pitch.
Thanks,

Ask the NR folks. They are pretty in touch on Yamaha products.

Be careful "Jucing" up a motor. It will probably viod any warranty it may have.
