Default More Mushroom Stuff

Info for all the chanterelle and other mushrooms lovers ...and those that just want to know what that "mushroom-looking-thing" is growing in the backyard.....
Each year the Oregon Mycological Society puts on a fine show with cooking demostrations, slide shows, identification tables, and lots, lots more. This year it is at the World Forestry Center(near the zoo, lots of parking!), 4033 SW Canyon Road, Portland. The rains have been very cooperative this year and the show's centerpiece(a large multitable feature of mushrooms in there habitat) should be loaded and very interesting to take in. This is a great place to pick up the latest mycological news and best of all...recipes!
Plan for it-Oct 19 (this Sunday) 12-5.

Don't forget the Oregon Mycological Society's Monthly meeting this month Oct 27th Education class starts at 630pm-this is also a good time to bring in those mushrooms you have questions with.Same location.

"Info for all the chanterelle and other mushrooms lovers ...and those that just want to know what that "mushroom-looking-thing" is growing in the backyard....." Ya, unfortunately I know what kinds grows in my backyard, and they never seem to be the good ones! I've got a mess of paxillus(poison pax) and pigskin puffballs(also poisonous) in my lawn right now. I did get lucky and find 8 or 10 meadow mushrooms(agaricus campestris) in one of my customers lawns last week and the wife and I got about six lbs. of chants in the coast range Monday.

We used to go up near Mt. Hood to hunt, but it's gotten so crowded with commercial pickers and you have to get a permit and you cat hunt here and you cant hunt there,...what a bummer.

That mushroom show at the forestry center is awfully interesting, I recomend it.
