McAfee v.s. Norton
Just a quick question. Wich one of the Virus software does everyone prefer here. My laptop came with McAfee. McAfee seems to be working. It has found a virus and destroyed it. Just wondering wich is best. Hate to get a Virus on my new computer.
Thanks
CM

Really doesn't matter. Properly used, both are excellent.

Re: McAfee v.s. Norton
I've used both and they seem to do the job just fine. Just keep it up to date and be aware!

Re: McAfee v.s. Norton
Thanks everyone, Just wanted some opinions before I buy all the stuff they recomend after my 90 day free trial ends. Like the Personal Firewall Plus, Privacy service, Spam Killer and Virus scan.
Thanks again

Re: McAfee v.s. Norton
I had Norton, my subscription ran out and I opted to go with McAfee... It caught 3 virus' that Norton had missed. To answer in advance.. No, I didn't let my subscription laps more than a day or two.

Re: McAfee v.s. Norton
I use McAfee, and so far no probs, no bugs. But I only use Virus Scan, not any of the options like Firewall, etc.
It runs automatically once a week.

<font size="2" face="verdana, arial, helvetica">FWIW - I've used McAffee for a few years and have no complaints. As long as you keep the virus definitions up to date it should do it's job.
I don't have a preference as I have not used Norton.

Re: McAfee v.s. Norton
The main thing is to make sure you have the latest definition files.
Also keep up on your Microsoft Patches.
It's a pain but that's the computer world we live in these days.

Re: McAfee v.s. Norton
i used mcafee but didnt keep it as updated as i should have and caught a virus in september which ruined my harddrive.. i switched to norton, but mostly because it was on sale and it had a built in firewall so i didnt have to load a separate system like i had with mcafee. i think if buy the updated versions its money well speant.. it cost me about 200 dollars to fix my problem, hard drive and software costs.... joco

Re: McAfee v.s. Norton
I have used Macafee in the past on my home computer and had nothing but problems. It slowed my computer down. I took it off and installed Norton and have not had any problems.

Re: McAfee v.s. Norton
Well, I just removed the McAfee Privacy Service. Got tired of signing in twice every time I turned on my computer. I had to log onto windows and then log on to McAfee everytime. Then it gave me a notice that it somehow got lost and I need to use my back up from my harddrive to restart the program. It's gone now.
Thanks
