Default Fish finder help?

I have Raymarine (can't remember the model off the top of my head), dual frequ. with the monitor mounted on the dash. I would really like to have a unit near the trolling motor, for obvious reasons. My question is this - is there ANY way to simply add a monitor to the same transducer or do I have to add a whole other "system"? I have a second finder but am really not excited about drilling more holes and having a second transducer. Any and all input much appreciated.

thanks,
TD

Need to know the model number. Most of the time a second display is NOT possible. But, it is possible to mount a xducer plug in at a second location and then simply unplug your head unit and move it to where you want to use it.

It is the DS 400X. I am not certain, but I believe they have discontinued the model? What do you think, can it be done? I have contacted Raymarine but have not received an answer from them.

Thanks for the input

I think they can. I have a DS 500X near the kicker and the wife just bought me an early Christmas present of a Raymarine A70D. I mounted it at the helm.

I think the DS 500X is discontinued but still going strong. I entertained the idea briefly but decided against it and have both tranducers mounted on the stern. I felt it gives some redundancy.

Anyway, I think can remember reading in the stuff that came with my DS500X of something having to do with NMEA (or something like that) that makes it possible to "link" all the electronic stuff on your boat together.

Talk to the folks at Rodger's Marine. Since I don't think they are a sponser I'll just tell you google is your friend and they have a web site.

If you mean a dual station monitor. The answer is no, they cannot.

The only Raymarine systems that can do a dual station is the C Wide series, E series and the new to be released E Wide Touchscreen series. All of these units would be approx 2.5K, 3K and 5K. (each)

The only way to add a second monitor is to actually buy another DS400x, DS500x, or DS600x and install it there using the xducer cable that already exists. The xducer is interchangeable between all three of those units.

But the easiest way is to do what I suggested and actually add a wire harness for your current unit (DS400X) to the OTHER location and use the xducer at eith location an splice in a connector.

But don't forget, only one station works at a time--as only one unit can operate the xducer at a time.

My suggestion is to just add another depth/fish finder where you want it and keep the xducers on the two different freq's. One 200khz and the other on 50khz. Again, that would facilitate the need to install a second transducer.

pm me for more info if this was a bit wordy.
