when life hands you lemons, make chicken soup
i'd planned to get some work done on the drifter this weekend. back on wednesday, the forecast said i was supposed to get two clear days to paint. instead, i get two soggy days that i can't paint. i did get a nice nap in today and finally made the trip up to go buy an axle for the trailer from gizmo man. on the way home, i hit the store and picked up a nice looking chicken and it's simmering away in a pot with onion, garlic, celery and carrot.
now that our usual weather is back, what are you cooking?

Re: when life hands you lemons, make chicken soup
We went over to my dad's today and he made us all a big pile of spaghetti complete with homemade sauce and garlic bread.
Serious grazing.
I finally got the engine out of my tow rig last weekend and I'll have to rip into it tomorrow, so no time to cook. :depressed: Maybe I can talk my girlfriend into making some comfort food. That's what we need in damp, chilly weather. If I had time I'd make my special meat loaf and a big mountain of garlic mashed potatoes.

Re: when life hands you lemons, make chicken soup
Sunday dinner will be turkey, stuffing, asparagas, potatoes and gravy, rolls and cake for dessert. Tonight it was pizza because we were getting ready for elk hunting in two weeks and duck hunting tomorrow.

Re: when life hands you lemons, make chicken soup
Since I got to fish Friday and caught some Salmon has been in the brine 24 hours now. Smokeing salmon again Sunday. I think a pork roast sounds good for dinner. I guess I better go get one out of the freezer.

Re: when life hands you lemons, make chicken soup
Ahhhhhhhhh geeeeeeeeeeee!
With all of the topics on LIG, I click on this one, and what do I get? FOOD!
It's 8 at night, I haven't eaten since 6 last night, and the doc says I won't be able to eat or drink after midnight, and then won't eat till I wake up at 5 or so tomorrow night!
I'm about ready to eat the printer paper!! Dang, Spaghetti sounds good... and STG... AHHHHHHHHHH!

Re: when life hands you lemons, make chicken soup
I read your post yesterday and took off to Jim's market. I had to get some carrots, celery and fresh onions. There was some chicken and turkey pieces parts in the freezer set aside for stew.
I got out the medium pot and started throwing cut up veggies and meat into it. Soon it out grew that pot and the next size up. I had to start cutting back by the time I got to our largest pot.
Nothing seems to warm a house like a slow cooked pot of stew.
(I wanted to put some nice wide egg noddles in but there wasn't any room.)

Re: when life hands you lemons, make chicken soup
I did turkey too! Baked a cake too! Travis, my baby, asked me if someone was having a birthday, I told him I baked it just because!
Ya, know, seriously tho, I am kinda getting tired of getting lemons and making chicken soup,... I think I am ready for some prime rib!
