Default Most efficient 200 Hp 2 stroke

I was curious if there was a general consensus as far as which 2 stroke would be the most fuel efficient with a jet pump. I've done some research regarding the fuel consumption with props, but not a lot of info with jets. Seems like the Yami 200 HDPI, Etec and Optimax are all very similar with the slight edge going to the Yami and the Yami Vmax consuming way more fuel than the rest.
Curious what everyone else's experience or knowledge about it is? Seems like the Etec and Optimax have a bit more power than the HDPI as well.

Any thoughts or is it basically a ford vs. chevy vs. dodge thing even for fuel economy?

Depends on the boat. Look at boattest.com and find a boat simular to yours. Lots of data on Yamaha's site and Merc's Site.

Anything you hear here is mostly conjecture, someone bought one and they like it...

I can't give you a comparison against the others, but I can give you some thoughts on the 200 HPDI jet, which I have owned for 3 seasons on a 20' tiller-run sled:

* It sips fuel at up to half throttle (like any modern motor). Much more than that and it goes from sip to gulp. Still not to bad at WOT though.

* On an average 9 hour steelhead trip on various local rivers, I run the big motor about an hour total and the kicker the rest of the time. Total gas used is usually around 7.2 gallons.

* On an average 9 hour springer trip on the Columbia, where I tend the run the big motor more often and through rougher water (longer run from the launch + I only fish with the tide), I tend to use closer to 11 gallons.

I have a 42 gallon tank which means that I can get about 5 steelhead trips or 3 springer trips in before I worry about gas.

I used to run an older Yamaha 200 2-stroke jet. We would generally use about 15 - 20 gallons of fuel on an average trip. With a 40 gallon tank, we never dared to go more than two trips without a fill-up and we came darn close to running out a few times on that second trip. It sucked up gas like it was going out of style.

I L.O.V.E. my HPDI. It's never given me a lick of trouble. It starts right up every time, in any conditions. My boat runs like a Ferrari at WOT. The hole-shot is unbelievable, even with 3 big guys on the boat. A lot of that might have to do with the boat/hull itself, but I would never hesitate to recommend the Yamaha 2.6 HPDI 200.
