Re: What the flock is up with the Ducks?
Another UO mid-season implosion. Nothing new.
Can't make the plays when they need to, and the pass defense is non-existent.
On Utah's last possession they (Utah) took over with a little over 2 minutes left, leading by 4. Normally, or at least in 99% of these situations, you would run the ball, burn up the clock, and not risk a turnover.
BUT NOOOOOOOOO, not against the Ducks. Go ahead and throw it. The can't defend against it. Just like last year. The DB's are too small and too slow. And every Division I team knows this.
UO was lucky that Utah got stupid and tried to run it in 3 times inside the 4, giving the Ducks another shot. Not that it mattered. They're just not a clutch team.
I'm predicting the Ducks will finish at .500 or worse. Anybody care to take me up on this?

Re: What the flock is up with the Ducks?
I find their season hilarious. Oregon is just falling apart this year. Oh well. I'm a cougar fan anyway so I could care less.

UO is about 2 good cornerbacks away from having a solid and consistent team. We're just getting killed right now

<font size="2" face="verdana, arial, helvetica">AMEN Nitrobass! I agree...we have NO pass defense whatsoever. Teams and coaches know this too!! Utah's QB Alex Smith...25-38 in completions for 340 yards against us Friday!!
I mean, the embarassment of getting their tails kicked like they did last week by WSU was bad enough, but this week with UTAH...that game should have been a "W" for the Ducks! Utah hadn't beaten anyone who was ranked in 4 years!!!!
We will rise again though! Give it time...hopefully next week against ASU

Re: What the flock is up with the Ducks?
Why do you think we did so well against the Ducks. We are a passing team and Oregon got taken to school. It happens.
I like OSU better anyway.

Re: What the flock is up with the Ducks?
Oops! I fell off the bandwagon. I'm OK! Not like it was going anywhere.
Yes, we suck! I didn't think this season could be worse than last, but I'll be surprised if we win another game.
Anything could happen in the Civil War, but the Beavies have a desire to win, which the Ducks seem to have used up in one game against Michigan.
Go Cougs!

Re: What the flock is up with the Ducks?
Maybe Phil Knight should lock the team out of the locker room. Pull a couple 60s era single wide mobel homes into the Autzen parking lot and say, play your way back to the plasma TV and playstations. I think I heard the air come out of the duck way up here in Portland.

Re: What the flock is up with the Ducks?
Its easy to talk it up about us for now but we've had a helluva good run for the last few years, a run that any pac 10 school should be envious of.

I think that once they put down the old press clippings and look at the ones from the last two weeks, they will stop the slide and maybe start playing again. Football is a tough game when you can't get your head in your helmet.

Re: What the flock is up with the Ducks?
Living in the past....right! Our "couple of good years" include some serious high points. We've had a dang good last decade. Even our low points would be considered highs for other teams.
Subtract a couple of good years for the beavers and you have them as resident cellar dwellars of the Pac 10.
I do like the beavs but lets see them for what they are. One really good year under Erickson and not too bad after that.

Oregon stepped in a cow pie when they hired Bellotti. Think I'll be a beavers fan the rest of the year.

Re: What the flock is up with the Ducks?
Belotti a cow pie?! Thats one of the most successful and well respected coaches in the nation.
He's good for the program. He hasnt jumped to greener pastures, nor has he had and major scandals. Thats what a good college coach should do.

Re: What the flock is up with the Ducks?
nitro, do I smell a tad bit of sarcasm toward WSU on that one?
Sadly, as scandalous as Mike Price may seem to some, he is still a heck of a coach and will be back I bet. Besides, if what occured happened at any other school, nothing would have ever been said about it. Alabama didn't like his style and wanted him out. This was there opportunity.

Re: What the flock is up with the Ducks?
I am a duck alum and we have had it good ever since I attended. I can't even imagine the bad old days when we were door mats.
Anyways, we have had some bad luck with the O-line and obviously our secondary is too small besides Lewis. I also think we need to go with one QB; either one, but I lean towards Clemens.
Go Ducks!

Re: What the flock is up with the Ducks?
Naw, no sarcasm specifically towards WSU but Price's scandal was pretty funny. I like WSU and think they have a good football program.
I was more trying to figure out how anyone could consider Belotti as a negative considering the job he's done.

Nawh, I think "cow pie" was right. Sorry, got to disagree with ya on this one.
Don't stick with Fife. and yes the secondary was terrible last two games.
But then again, I'm just an arm chair coach.

Re: What the flock is up with the Ducks?
Ryan White of The Oregonian took a lot of heat early in the year for downplaying the Ducks and predicting they would finish in the bottom half of the PAC-10.
Looks like he knew what he was talking about.

Husker, You are right. the biggest problem with the Ducks is the offense. I agree with the the OC being what we really need.
The Ducks are not going any where this year unfortunatly. .

Re: What the flock is up with the Ducks?
I was over at my dad's today, and my sister and her husband were there. They're both UO alums and their Suburban (in UO green, of course) was parked in the driveway, complete with UO vanity plates, pennants, pom-poms and stickers. This was nothing unusual, but then I spotted the magnetic "Oregon" logo signs they had on the doors.
About halfway thru the 4th quarter, my brother-in-law asked my sister to go outside and pull the signs and flags off the car, since they couldn't bear to drive home after that slaughter today with all that crap on there. I offered him a couple of paper bags to wear over their heads but he didn't find that amusing for some reason.

Re: What the flock is up with the Ducks?
I find this hilarious this season. Phil Knight couldn't buy these guys a win lately. Not a whole lot of smack talk coming from the Duck fans after these blowout scores lately.
When I am driving to school or back home and I see an Oregon fan driving on the Interstate, I just flash them my Coug ID card and watch them shake their heads and give a speechless smirk. Great fun on a 6 hour drive.
USC and WSU for the Pac 10 champ this year.
DanS, I am actually rooting for a Dawgs win this week. Not something you'd here from a Loyal Coug.
Finally someone has beaten Ohio. I was getting tired of their squeak-by wins each week. Only helps the cougs in the polls.

Wolf Pack 28
Washington 17,
Hey DanS
Where's the smack this week?
You, Carp, and Jocose all talk more trash then a room full of sanitation workers. You all have one and/or two weeks to get counseling in place. Perhaps the impromptu grief and loss type that they are doing in Eugene, Lincoln, Austin, and Columbus in order to keep idiots there from beating their spouses and/or jumping off of buildings.
All the little apple heads will be shifting there focus to their precious little "cup" in hopes that it won't be there team that ends up the biggest loser.
Just like that boxer, "duhhhh, I cudda been a contender."
Beavs are gonna rock your world!
Jackson is healing up a coupla little nicks, the "O" line is clickin', the defense is tough, DA is maturing, everything is coming together.
I pick Stanford to beat WASSU next week and OSU to beat the dogs.

Re: What the flock is up with the Ducks?
Stray,
I knew someone would call me out on that one. Take the Cougars for example. We were ranked to be in like 6th in the Pac-10 and 44th I believe in the nation so basically I believe the polls don't mean squat.
OSU is picking up momentum, but it takes more than momentum to win a football to win a game. Ask the University of Nike if no one believes me.

Re: What the flock is up with the Ducks?
Mr. Carp,
One thing is for sure, it should be a heck of a ball game when the Cougers and the Beavers meet!
If a Washington team has to do well, at least it the the right one doing so this year!

Now that my Duks are most likely out of it for the year I hope the Cougs whip the Beavers real bad.
Go Cougs (now).

Now I know what WSU fans were thinking when they lost to Idaho..........this just shouldn't be happening.
Me, talk smack now? I don't think so.......

Re: What the flock is up with the Ducks?
Krue,
Do you own a black kettle??? You seem to be calling it black.
OSU is stepping up and playing good football, but OSU's little fingers will get cold and not play well when they come into Martin Stadium. It is not warm like Corvallis up here.
One thing you can't argue about it that we are ranked 6 and you are 22. Apparently your team isn't up to the level of a WSU or USC....
When both Oregon teams are the laugh of the NCAA, you can thank the cougs from WAZZU! (It is spelled with z's and not s's)
This is all in good fun, if anyone finds this offensive in anyway, we can stop posting.

Re: What the flock is up with the Ducks?
I'll say it again. Poor coaching and a poor secondary will make for a poor season. Quack, quack, quack...BANG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Duck season is just getting started.
Go Beavers, at least they still got it.

Re: What the flock is up with the Ducks?
One thing is for sure next week. The Ducks won't lose. (They aren't playing.) Go Ducks>..
Oh and lets see Washington or OSU? I think its to bad they can't both lose. Beavers probably deserve to win after the years of thrashings they have taken.

Re: What the flock is up with the Ducks?
It is good and bad for the cougars that the Dawgs won tonight IMHO.
It will make the Cougs next week win against the beavers less important.
Glad to see the Dawgs pull a good one out in Corvallis and snap that losing strak. Nevada has a football team???????
I actually feel bad fot the beavs in a way as well. They were getting some momentum going and making out little Palouse invitational on the 25th more important. Now it is basically USC and WAZZU driving the train. But, I will be the first to say there is a lot of football to be played yet and the cougs have one heck of a schedule ahead of them. God forbid we "coug it" and screw up.
As long as we just do hail mary's from like the 50 yard line into the end zone for scores we will be fine. We just seem to have this red zone phobia and choke. At least we have Dunning who is the best in the nation right now.
Well, we can look ahead all we want, but we have some angry beavers coming to Pullman in a week and we need to focus on them first. Hopefully another coug win, but I am all for a good game no matter the outcome. I was thinking something like what we did to the University of Nike.
DanS, I think some members should be eating some crow for you right about now on their Beaver predictions.
GOD BLESS COLLEGE FOOTBALL!!!!!!

<font size="2" face="verdana, arial, helvetica">Just don't set yourself up for a serving, Carpster. Man, the Cougs are doing what they need to do to stay on top. Nice enough game vs. SU to get out of there with a win.
Don't know what it is about OSU, but we've had their number recently.......kinda like UCLA has OUR number.
