just use needle nose pliers. they work just fine for bending wire. or use a small screw driver and wrap the wire around that

moto, like cam said...don't bother with the spinner makers, you'll make 'em faster and just as well with a pair of needlenose pliers, and needlenose pliers are cheap, and don't wear out like spinner makers do.

You do not need to make perfectly round loops. In fact, a diamond-shaped hook loop, bent with four, 45 degree bends around the tips of a pair of needle-nose pliers will make a beautiful hook loop which will, not incidentally, help keep Siwash single hooks from flipping around and fouling on the shaft as the lure flies through the air on the cast.

There are also round-jawed pliers available at various fishing tackle dealers, and if you can't find a pair, it's simple to use a bench grinder and round off the jaws on a pair of needle-nose pliers to make two, rounded, pointed jaws.

If you ask an experienced spinner maker, he can possibly show you how to break or "snap" the tag end wire off by reverse-bending it through a roughly 110 degree arc after the wraps have been made, either by hand with a long tag end, or by using a second pair of pliers when the tag end is short.

Learn to build on .029 or .031 inch wire, and things are pretty easy. A wire forming tool is absolutely NOT a necessity. I prefer to hand build every size of spinner.
