Fresh crab meat is too precious to waste on a recipe.

About six crab to the pound last time we went (24 crab = 4 1/2 pounds).

96 crabs = too much to just eat. It's crab cake night!

Sometimes keeping your limit isn't the greatest idea, same with tuna. Too much work!!

Dungeness Crab have an average yield of 25% (accepted commercial kitchen average)

Sort version is: 25% of your crab's weight is meat

A pint of water weighs 1 lb. Dry granulated stuff weighs less per volume, ranging about 13-15 oz per pint, but crab meat is pretty wet so I guess a pint of crab meat weighs close to 15 oz. Heap it up and you have about a pound.

My guess: a full dungeness crab's worth of meat could be as little as a half pint (barely legal) to a full pint for one that's 8 inches across the back. I'll bet this is pretty close to Sled Dog's approximation.
