15 years ago....Benson State Champs

I woke up this morning and went through the normal schedule, shower, lunch, bus stop and when I came to work I had something that just blew me away.

One of the things I do in the morning is jump on the internet and check fishing reports, ifish, and the Oregonian. And there it was....
This morning there was an article on the 88' Benson Team that won the state title some 15 years ago. 15 years? Yes, 15 years ago!! I can't believe it, that was half my life ago. As I sit here recalling that day in 1988 as a member of the Roseburg Indians, and feeling the sting of a State Champion Loss. I can't believe it was 15 years ago. I mean I can't be that old, I still remember it very well, right down to the place I ate dinner the night before, the hotel we stayed at in Tualatin and long bus ride south on I-5. I was a Junior and can remember being a small town kid, overwhelmed by this huge metropolitan city of Portland, as strange to me as a foreign city. All the concrete, streets, people, I felt like I was in a Hobbit movie on a mission to destroy the ring...

Oh well, now I have lived in the Portland area for 8 years, a place I would have never even contemplated back in 1988. Strange how things work out.

Time keeps moving on. Anybody else on this board play in that game?

No, but I watched it on TV. Which is kinda weird, 'cuz that was the only high school game I've ever watched on TV. Period.
That was also the last state football championship won by a PIL school.

I too remember that game and celebrating it in auto shop.
