Default New Branfels Smoker Company - Black Diamond, lil chief or Weber Smokey Mountain

Anyone had experience with the Blcak Diamond or Smokey Mountain smoker? I was pondering the lil chief, but was thinking if I spent a few more dollars...

Black Diamond

or

Smokey Mountain

or

Smokin' Pro

Might be overkill? I would like to be able to smoke baby backs as well with the smoker I purchase. Maybe this is like comparing a sledge to a tack hammer?

Thanks for any input.

I just (two weeks ago) bought a Great Outdoors smoker (propane) at Lowe's in McMinville. All the features of the Weber and more.
Have smoked salmon and cooked baby backs with superb results.
The price was right and I couldn't be more pleased.

My fishing partner (Del) just bought one of these.

Bradley Smoker

A little spendy but SWEET !!!

I also received a catolog from Northern the other day that had some pretty cool smokers in it.

I bought a Smokey Mountain at a garage sale that was still in the box, not even assembled yet, for the grand price of twenty dollars. I love that thing. I use it for salmon and it is great for tri tip roasts. I usually hot smoke. Salmon fillets take a half hour or so for dinner. I haven't tried it yet for regular smoking. I use my big chief for that.

I would suggest the Black Diamond.I have one like it from Home Depot that was about 200 dollars a few years ago but I think they are cheaper now.The only option it needs is a cover and a thermometer which Target sells for about 18 for one with a 4 foot probe and timer and all the goodies on it.This smoker will hold 4 racks of ribs or about 8 chickens or 3 turkeys. If you get one e-mail me for places to get wood. Its nice with hickory or mesquite wood for smoking.
