Gotta be the CUBS, the billy goat curse is off. I cant even imagine a WS in Wrigley. The town will implode. I'd love to see a series Red Sox and Cubs with the Cubs on top. I spent half my youth skipping school and watching Ernie Banks at Wrigley.

I am with you Stew I would like to see the Red Sox and Cubs. In that match up I would go with the Sox. Overall it is hard to bet against the Yankees in the playoffs.

Yanks will win it all. No other team has 4 quality starters like NY. I think the Cubs will be there as well, but experience and pitching will carry NY to the title.

OK, so i've got 1 team that I predicted still in it. I didn't think the Marlins would spank the Giants like they did  At least the Sox are still in it though instead of the A's. I don't think they could beat the Yanks for the ALCS. I would be untruthful if I said i'd like to see the Bo-Sox go because I like them though...really all I want is to see the Yankees lose

C&E...your Cubbies WHOOPED up on Florida tonight! 12-3, that sounds like a football score. I tell ya, whoever wins the ALCS is gonna get a run for their money if Sammy and the gang win the NLCS!

For all us Red Sox fans...a little prayer.

Our Father who art at Fenway, babseball be thy game. Thy kingdom come, world series won, on earth as it is in Cask n' Flagon. Give us this day another Pedro, and forgive us our losses as we forgive those whose errors have cost us (like young Bill Buckner). And lead us not into depression, but deliever us from the curse of the Bambino.

Pudge has a little problem of being on the wrong team.

I'm having a real hard time deciding who to cheer for. Dividing my time between the Sox and the cubbies. If they both make it, I'll just have to root for whoever's up to bat!

The Series will be the Cubs and Yankees. I am pulling for the Cubs, they have some great arms and a pretty good offense. But..... The Yankees will win... again. Because they are to well versed in post-season play.

Oh yeah, Pedro Martinez is a vile little punk who can't back up his arm. I've witnessed this guy do this kind of stuff too often and someday....someday he will hit the wrong guy. You heard it here first.

What are you talking about? If you mean hitting a player with a pitch, it's been part of the game for as long as it's been played. Do I agree with it, not really, but then again I don't do it for a living. If you mean throwing Zimmer to the ground...Pedro makes his living with his arm. Zimmer sitting on his 70 year old rear end. Pedro defended himself like he should have. Zimmer had no right to go after him, remember he went after the pitcher not the other way around. He knew what he was doing..he was trying to get Pedro kicked out for the series or worse actually hurt him.
I really didn't like what I saw and I think it took away from a great series, but I have to defend Pedro on this one.

Well the o'l boy deserved to be tossed to the carpet. What the heck was he thinking going after Pedro? Should have known better at 70 years old. Not sure why they fined Pedro $50k though. Seems a bit stiff for defending himself. The o'l boy should not be allowed on the field for the rest of the series. How embarassing for NY.

Saw his appology last night on TV. Seemed sincere enough but all's the same. Ban him for the remaining game.

Oh, and GO CUBS!!!!!!

Pedro has to share some of the guilt. He threw the pitch, he continued to taunt the NY dugout, and he came out onto the field when Manny was doing his best Carl Malone impression. Zimmer is an idiot and deserved to be tossed on his old can. The whole thing almost turned into a hockey game.

They both should have been tossed for the remainder of the series.

It was a shame to see the fighting and other BS. Takes away from the game if you ask me. Zimmer was out of line in so many ways to go after Pedro, first and foremost, his age! what 70+ year old man has a chance at being anything BUT humiliated going after a 25 year old healthy guy? Foolish
The replays looked like Zimmer was going down before he reached Pedro, Pedro simply redirected Zimmers face.

Pedro Martinez a vile little punk who cant back up what? Pedros talent goes way past his ego. Hes one of the best in baseball and his numbers and cy youngs are solid evidence.

Intimidating a batter by throwing at him has been a questionable yet COMMON practice and strategy...it will never end. As far as charging the mound though, I think any batter hit by a 97 MPH fast ball has a right to be upset, it HURTS...but a pitcher rarely decides to do it...that call is made by the manager. Pedro threads needles with his pitches so its rarely a qwuestion of intent...when it happens..toss the manager...take your base...batter up, end of story.

I am a professional baseball player and a pitcher at that. I have 2 years of Major League service time so I think I know what I am saying here.
I have had the opportunity to see Pedro in action on more than one occasion and let me tell you guys, this isn't just my opinion but that of almost everyone else in Major League Baseball. He cannot back up his arm, he has to have his big teammates do it for him.

I never said he was a bad pitcher, as he has been arguably the best pitcher in the American League for some time. Get him an at bat, see if he still throws at people!

And it is not always the manager who tells the pitcher to throw at a hitter. It is the pitcher's job to set a tone for the game and Pedro does well at that, he just throws at peoples heads. You don't do that, period. You are dealing with ending someones career or worse, life.

You are exactly right that Don Zimmer shouldn't have gone after Pedro, but throw down a 72 year old man? Come on! He could have just sidestepped him and gone after someone else. Did you notice how they had to hold back Roger Clemens? That is a real man! Pedro was the last guy out of the dugout and nobody was around him. Gutless. Yeah, Yeah, I know, you will say he was being smart because he wanted to stay in the game. You back up your teammates as well as yourself. He is once again a vile little punk who can't back up his arm.

Pedro is indeed a punk! Ask my two boys about Pedro's behavior towards them when they asked him for an autograph at a Portland Beavers game many years ago.
He has a lot of talent but is a no class player.

I was wondering why one of the Yankee players didnt challenge Pedro instead of Popeye. Is Zimmer the only "old school player" on the team. Posada should have went out there.

Pitching is all about intimidation. Very few pitchers throw in these days. Thats why home runs are out of control. Hitters hang out over the plate and wear body armor and then cry if a ball comes up and in. Give me a break

I too played profesional ball and can tell you that pitching in will make the difference between Cy Young winners and the average Joe with a 5.0 ERA.

Pedro didnt throw at his head. The guy ducked and got nicked on the back. Big deal.

Even more Bush league was Garcia sliding into second on the next play with his cleats up.

This is the playoffs people. Have some intensity or get off the field!

Jfool,

Who and where did you play professionally for and do you realize what you are saying?

Pedro didnt throw at his head. The guy ducked and got nicked on the back. Big deal.

Even more Bush league was Garcia sliding into second on the next play with his cleats up.

If He would not have ducked it would have hit him in the earhole of his helmet! Did you watch the game. Listen again to your own words. "The guy ducked and got nicked in the back". Once again if he wouldn't have ducked it would have hit him in the head. That my friend is called "headhunting" and if you indeed played professional baseball you would know this. PM me and we will discuss this on a professional level my friend. I know how playoffs work, I am in them right now.

I know and have played with Karim Garcia. He is a gamer and has more guts than anyone you would like to ever meet. Someone whom I consider to be an old school boy. Not bush league, it's about backing up your team and yourself. Give me some info on who you used to play for and we will go from there. If you want info on who I am, Pm me and we will discuss it.

Kenai,

Good question. I know Roger Clemens was ready for action. Most of them were going after Ramirez because they knew he would actually hurt someone. They weren't worried about little boy Pedro, so they sent Zim after him. I would give 10 to 1 odds on Zim in a fight with Martinez. Not many "old school players" left I'm afraid. Too much money and self-preservation.
