Re: 17yr aniversary HELP
What about the symphony? A play? STOMP? Concert of some kind?
I don't know how "outdoorsy" she might be, but Breitenbush Hot Springs is a very relaxing getaway.

Re: 17yr aniversary HELP
Congratulations on 17 years! I'm only at 13, but I know 17, 20 and 25 are in our future.
IMO you should give her something she always wants but feels guilty buying on her own. It could be anything big or small, but if she realizes that you've been listening and paying attention to what she says all those years, it will mean more to her than anything you buy "just because".
Also, write her a true heartfelt note or letter telling her just how much she means to you and how she enriches your life on a daily basis.
Men are much more materialistic than women - when expressing your feelings to a woman, use your heart instead of your wallet.
Ok. Enough of my feminine side, I need to go use my power tools for a while.

Re: 17yr aniversary HELP
take your money and spring for something to spoil her. maybe a trip to a spa or a massage. get her flowers. it doesn't have to be a fancy delivered bouquet. get 'em at the store and stick them in a vase at home (don't forget to recut the stems so they'll last longer). put your card with heartfelt writings next to the flowers. make her a nice meal, something she really likes. candles, a nice bottle of wine or whatever she likes.

Re: 17yr aniversary HELP
Ok, I just used my 20,000 horsepower leaf blower so I've got that out of my system and can offer some more of my thoughts.
This doesn't apply directly to your upcoming anniversary, but if during the course of the year you surprise your wife for no reason with flowers, breakfast in bed, cinammon rolls, unexpected nice gestures, house cleaning, etc... it will make your decisions on buying gifts for birthdays, anniversary's and such much easier. The reason I say this is because she will already know that she is special to you and gifts or other gestures for special occasions become less stressful for both of you. I've found that surprising my wife for no reason means WAY more than trying to come up with something at the last minute for an Anniversary or Birthday just because of what the calendar says. But that may just be me and my wife. Your results may vary.
Oh Jeez, now I need to go rebuild a motor or something...

Re: 17yr aniversary HELP
I have to agree with everything that has been said here.
We were talking awhile back about what we wanted to do for our aniversary and she said she would like to just get away some where even if it was just for a night.
So i have been looking for some place for us to go that we haven't been. And hopefully something for us to do that we haven't done yet.

Re: 17yr aniversary HELP
We spent last weekend at the Inn at Otter Crest just north of Newport - a very pretty spot on the beach. Because we have an "Entertainment" book, we only had to pay $59 per night. (which is odd, because they're not even listed in our Entertainment book) If you don't have one, maybe you know someone who will let you borrow their card.
The cool thing about the Inn at Otter Crest is there's a resident whale population right out front. Last weekend they were spouting all over the place, very close to shore. We could sit on the deck of our room and watch them.
Have fun whatever you do!

Re: 17yr aniversary HELP
Here's a suggestion - get a pair of tickets to the Singing Christmas Tree concert - an AWESOME holiday production - if she's the artsy type.

Re: 17yr aniversary HELP
Okay here it goes. Purchase her favorite candy and a single rose. Book a hotel room on the coast(try looking on the internet for discounts). Make dinner reservations at a nice restraunt. Write her a letter telling her how she makes you feel and what you love about her. After you arrive at the hotel when she is out of site put the letter, candy and rose on her pillow. Have a great night I know your wife will be very happy.
I know I would .
