Default Computer Virus Questions

This morning I found out I have a virus infecting my computer. After running NAV I get the message "The file C:\\WINNT\explore.exe is infected with the Backdoor.Hazzer virus". Now the virus's ive had before ususally just get repaired, but this one says it was unable to repair or quarentine. NAV website says a few things about the virus and reccomends deletion. Soooo my question is, can I just delete this file? Will it screw things up if I delete it? (ive done that before thats why im weary)
thanks for any help
Russ

I've run NAV for years. I've always followed the recommendations and never gotten into trouble doing so.

You can usually go and research these things on Symmantec.com and they will typically have a utility you can download (free) to remove them.

You don't want to delete "explorer.exe", don't know about "explore.exe"

I'd probably go with what Norton says to do. And stand by to re-install the operating system ... man I love Windows!
