Default Cabela Prodigy Baitcaster

Anyone know anything about this reel? I am looking for a new baitcaster and the Prodigy, Pflueger Trion & Shimano Curado have all caught my eye. I have read the recent post on the Trion and would like to hear about the Prodigy if anyone has any information on it. Thanks in advance.

I have all three, and it's quite the coincidence you posted this. I just got off the phone with Customer Service at Cabela's regarding my Prodigy.

Overall, it's a very smooth reel...good drag, casts awesome, etc. However, the release on it is really sticky, so after I cast it's tough to get it to engage before retrieving. I've had it for over a year, but like I said, it's done well with steelies.

However, Curado will get my vote every single time. The Pflueger is a nice reel as well, but a little bulky for my liking.

Price-wise, all are comparable but for an extra $20 I'd go with my Curados every time. You don't need the Super Free either, but it helps a little.

I've had my curado since '93 and it has never caused me a problem. I'll get it back in another week in brand new functioning condition for about$25 from Ollie Damons. They reel a little rough after a decade but will still get the job done. Fro

I have 2 Curado's and will stand by them 100%. But in-fisherman endorses the Trion and the President low-profile baitcasters. When & if I were to get another one, based on their endosrement, I think I would like to try one. Cabela's porducts have never really done much for me. But I have never field tested the prodigy.
