Ginseng
Anyone use it?
I have eaten a slice of root every day (well, almost) since I was a kid.
My father studied the medicinal qualities and swore by it, also plamted a lot of it years and years ago with my grandfather back east in ideal locations far from the greedy hands of those who know its monetary value. Some patches have been "checked on" by a family member and are thriving quite well. Some as old as 50 years planted by my grandfather on the eastern slopes of a New England mountainside when he returned from the war.
I have about one and a half pounds of quality wild whole root and will not sell it, but am willing to barter if anyone is interested. Ive had it about 6 months and will not use it all before I get some fresh. (a little less this time)
I can also provide info uninfluenced by todays commercial market to those who are interested in it, and its history dating back centuries. It is a prized and valuable part of Asian/European culture. Medicinally it is very significant and far more than the commercial "stimulant" (over-rated) or energy booster it is marketed as today.

Re: Ginseng
I used to take the liquid extract in high school. Then I went to chewing on the root itself. I havn't used it in a while but since you mentioned it I need to get my hands on some.
Is it red or white?

Re: Ginseng
Ginseng is great stuff. I've taken it for a number of years. Korean, siberian. Ginseng just makes you feel better. You're more alert, have more energy, and just feel more focused. I swear by it. I don't think you can go wrong with this stuff.

Re: Ginseng
I like to cook with it. But the supermarket stuff really sucks. Most of the time it has no flavor. If you have extra, I would love to try some of the real thing. If you don't where do you go to get good quality herbs around here. Some of the Asian markets are good, but some not so good.

Re: Ginseng
Red ginseng(Korean) is more for energy and stamina. White(Chinese) is more for an overall sense of well being. It helps with your mind and body. Just makes you feel good.

Re: Ginseng
SH...2LEYS...
My grandfather used to say: "it makes the old feel young, and the young feel themselves"
Im on the road at the moment, but will post more details for you SH... fishbonus... I'm sure we can work something out...Im just looking to share with people who will do the same in one way or another. The stuff I have is a New England grown strain of Chinese seeds planted by my Grandfather shortly before he passed away about 12 years ago. Very good quality, strong pungent bitter flavor. Too much will amp you very similar to mixing a b-complex into a triple latte. But like anything else, too much of a good thing, is never a good thing.

Re: Ginseng
Don't need ginseng. Ten cups of coffee, and I feel great!
