Default Hound Smell Question

I was out with a friend in a city park today and someone had a lovely funny puppy-a Basset Hound.

When she expressed an interest in obtaining one for herself I said Do you know how bad those things smell-they are an outside dog not an apartment mutt"(We both live in downtown Vancouver in apartments).

Then she said "Well do all hounds smell as bad as a Basset"?

And I had to admit I don't know-a full sized hound dog is a rare sight in this city.

So-this being a place with all kinds of outdoor/dog lovin' Folk I ask you "do all hounds smell as bad as a Basset"?

Rodbender, dogs are like people, the longer they go without a bath, the more they stink. Wash the dog on a regular basis, and no stink problem.

The male coonhound mix smells worse sooner than the female beagle. Luckily it goes away with a bath.

My lab smells just fine. I have heard that about Bassett's though. I guess you just have to bathe them regularly
