I asked about this. Here is Opus reply:

We want to make sure that people know what they are signing up for. Some people thought that they HAD to sign up in order to keep using the
forum. We want to be clear that this is for purchasing services which will support Ifish.

I hope that helps!

i have no qualms about talking to them and definitely respect a business that will go out of their way to be perfectly honest with their potential customers. it just seemed kind of odd to me that, amidst all of the electronica involved, i'd be getting a phone call as the primary method of contact.

I don't feel like e mail is reliable lately. Half of my good e mail goes to my spam filter. It's frustrating. Sometimes I lose very important e mails.

Where business money is involved, I'd much rather talk to someone real on the phone.

But, it is a personal decision. Just tell them that you'd rather be notified by e mail.

I think they are very nice folks, and were very concerned that you might be unhappy. They brought this thread to my attention. I had been fishing this morning. (SLOW DAY FOR US!)

So far, I am very impressed with their professionalism, concern, and courtesy.

After all, they put up with me!

It was funny. In designing the site for the ISP, in a preview, I was very pleased with the look and feel. However, there was a bass lure on the page. I didn't think that represented the majority of us well, and I had them change it to a steelhead lure. No problem!
Then, the logo on the site is different than our logo. I didn't like it at first, but it's growing on me.

I'm picky, and a bit of a perfectionist. They are still being patient with me, and I appreciate it so much!

It's scary, cuz I really care about ifishers and how we are treated. (including me!)

I am really picky, and border on paranoid in dealing with other companies, when it comes to interacting, or affecting our membership.

I have worked too hard to do my best, to let anything go haywire. If it ever does, it is in the contract that I can back out, at any time.

I don't see that happening. As far as I can tell, they are as protective and caring of their business, as I am ifish.

I think it will turn out well. I feel good about it.

Please do not ever hesitate to tell me if there is a problem, and I'll get right on it.

Wow, a phone call? That sounds like old fashioned customer service. When I first got an internet account from Teleport, I registered on line ... about 10 minutes later, Jim Diebele, the owner called me with my password. I was so impressed! With all the spam and filtering at the ISP and personal levels, e-mail is much less reliable than it used to be. The level of commitment and expense of making a phone call seems like a good thing to me.
