I think it starts next month. Could be wrong, but I thought I read that somewhere.

I think the list is only distributed quarterly, or something like that - so your name isn't really on their list yet.

The National Do Not Call list isn't enforced until October 1st. After the 1st, everyone on the NDNC list should see a reduction in telemarketing calls. Hang in there!

The main reason everyone may have noticed a slight increase in telemarketing calls is because most of the major telemarketing companies are rushing to gain as many contacts before the October 1st deadline. Here is the catch----if a telemarketer contacts you and a purchase is made, you have created a "business relationship" with the company and they can keep calling you after the October 1st deadline-regardless if you are on the NDNC list or not.

If you own a business they can still call your business number, this list is only good for residential users. I am on the Oregon No Call list and it works great, sign up for that one too!

It has improved... but I found it funny that the policeman's association of some sort called me for a "you cannot miss event". I explained I was broke and also on the "do not call" list and the guy still wouldn't give up.

Since I have signed up for the Oregon no call list I have not recieved 1 call from a telemarketer, we were getting up to 5 or 6 calls a night. I think it cost us & around $5.00 for the initial sign up & then about $ 3 - 4 a year to maintain. My wife & I agree that its the biggest bargain we've ever had. BTW this national no call court ruling (twice now) might be what it takes to get enough people to understand that their votes count. If you think they won't impact your life , think agian, for many of them have the power to APPIONT judges that serve for life!! & if you don't think that impacts your life this is a perfect example of how it does!

fishisabonus,

The reason you got a call from the police is because they are considered a "charity organization". Therefore, they can and will call you, even if you are on the NDNC list.
