Default I need input on this

Good Day,
I drive a bus for a company over here in Bend Oregon, I pick up all walks of life, good and bad.
I well not use the name of the person or place of what happen today, as someone may be related to this person. I DO HAVE TO PROTECT MY BACK SIDE.

I have picked up this person for over the last year and a half, seems like a nice person alittle crazy at times but not to far off the right path.

Well to day it has changed my way of thinking about this person, as I picked this person up, a friendly Hello, how have you been, ect, ect.

"O" I see you are going to that thrift store, Yea, cant wate to get there as they have cheap shirts.

As I pull up to this store, the owner comes out and points her finger at me and says can you wate, I- well only for a secount or two.

The owner just comes uncorked on this person who Iam droping off, I am in the blind to know whats up.
Owner says at a loud voice YOU ARE NOT WELCOME BACK INTO YHIS STORE.
You remember the last time you were here(last week) you got to touchy & feely with the cleark that helped you, and she is my daughter, and she is 13.
I hade to put this person back on my bus and took him to Dennys, as it was lunch time for some.

Now what I hade to do was make out a report, to what I have explaned to all of you, as Last year there were 2 drivers in the town of Prinevill Oregon who almost went to jail for not reporting sexual abuce to there supervisor's,
Now this is done at my end, as I am not going to jail for nothing.

Should I go to the police with this or wate and see if my supervisor does??

The reports are in triple, 1. to supervisor.
2. to office files.
3. to my files at home.

What would you all do, NEED input on this.

Thanks River-Rat.-----------------------------------------------------**---***FISH-ON.

From the way I understand it: the individual in question did inappropriately touch a minor female. You assisted getting this guy off the
site where the offense was previously committed(to which I am sure the owner is grateful, though she may not have been able to express it at the time). The owner may have filed a report after the offense was commited, we don't know. She was waiting for him to come though. Which makes me think she didn't file with the police, but chose to handle it her own way.

<font size="2" face="verdana, arial, helvetica">I think you have covered the bases . Except I think you need to know for yourself:
Is that girl going to be safe?
and
Is the guy going to meet the judge, if the police think there is evidence?
To put yourself at ease do this: go to the police tell them what you have done and if they need any further info or help from you. That way you have opened yourself up to be assistance to those that can really do the final work and you put your mind at ease.

Gee River Rat, Sounds like a bad day to me.

At your work You have rules and guide lines to follow. Speak to your superviser to keep you in the clear. Tell them everything as you don't need to lose a job over someone like that.

Sounds like what you heard was hear-say of another incident. I don't know if you can call the police in a non-emergency situation and talk with them about it and maybe even be on the look out for him to come around again. If anybody should have gone to the police it should had been the store owner. As a father I would have not even had a second thought if some was getting that way with my daughter.

I am a mandatory reporter, and had to take a class regarding the reporting rules. I don't know if bus drivers are mandatory reporters, but I do know that you cannot get into trouble for reporting what you heard to the police. If you are a public employee, you probably are a mandatory reporter, and could get into trouble for not reporting it to the police. I don't think that reporting it to your supervisor meets the requirements. If it were me, I would call the police and let the know what you witnessed. They may or may not already be apprised of the situation. As long as what you tell them is limited to what you personally witnessed, it won't go back to bite you later. If your company has an attorney, ask the attorney for advice. If it's public transit, it may be the city attorney you need to talk to. Document what you witnessed, and what your actions were, including who you reported it to and their response, and put it in a safe place.

For an overview of how to report abuse, and what happens when you do, go to the DHS website

HERE

I hope this helps. You can't go wrong by reporting it. You can go wrong by not reporting it.

River-Rat-

As an adult I think it is your job to protect those who can't protect themselves.. ie a child. This person is obviously a sick individual and if he is willing to inappropriately touch a 13-year old in a store.. what is he willing to do to a 8 year old alone in a park. This is predatory behavior and if true I guarantee you that this isn't the first incident nor will it be the last.

Go to the police and let them make the call. It is your responsibility as a witness and you may be saving another child's innocence...

You will do the right thing!!
