Default fish finder reccomendations please

Hello, I am looking to buy a new color GPS/fis finder combo unit. I am thinking a Lowrance x-18c for my choice but I would like to hear opinions from others. I want a good fish finder with a reasonably large screen that I can actually see from a reasonable distance. The fish finder will be mounted in an open boat so water proof is an absolute must. I would also like opinions on the best place to buy a new fish finder, or the best deals if anyone has any information they would like to share.

Thanks,
Fish Slapper
