Birthday gift from my wife....
So my wife got me a chartered trip with "Troller and Linda Sue III Charters" for my birthday for myself and one of my friends. I dont know if Jennie will allow this thread to stay on here, but here goes...I dont know anything about different charter companies, and I have no idea how my wife came to select this outfit. Anyone ever go out with them before? How was it?
The big decision is whether to go for salmon, "deep reef bottom fishing", or "conventional light tackle bottom fishing". I dont know what kind of sea legs I have, so hopefully I wont be spending my day chumming the water. Any suggestions on which trips are better?

Dramamine and if need be head to the back of the boat and let it go. My frist ocean trip I fought that sinking feeling, but once I gave in, I felt much better.

(just kidding!)
salmon. although bottom fishing can be fun.

Re: Birthday gift from my wife....
I'm just the opposite. Dramamine doesn't help me, and once I do the liquid laugh, the hits just keep on coming. :depressed:
I'd talk to your doctor and get a prescription, maybe for that ear patch. A while back somebody had a post for some med that worked well, but I don't remember the name of it.

Re: Birthday gift from my wife....
After trying everything else, and I do mean EVERYTHING else. I got meclazine from the doctor and I can go out anytime now. I can even eat lunch when I'm out. I have heard the OTC stuff may not work as well as the script. As always "Your mileage may vary".

Re: Birthday gift from my wife....
CT,
Salmon may be more fun to catch, (but I'm not so sure on a charter). Bottom fish eat better though! Especially if you get into lings and cabezon!
Just my $.02

Keta turned me on to candied ginger. You can find it the oriental section at Safeway. Just nibble a little bit when you start to feel ill. It works like a champ.

Re: Birthday gift from my wife....
CT,
Since you do not know if you have sea legs or not, stay away from the meds for the first time out. If you don't get sea sick, then it is all good and you won't stuff your head with medicine every time you go out.
If you do the "liquid laugh" , this trip will be a little uncomfortable and you will know that you are prone to getting woozy and open to the wide choices out there.
I don't get seasick (knock on wood), but I do try and follow this routine. Good nights sleep, no belly full of beer the night before. Make sure you hydrate yourself the day before. Light breakfast, something like a granola bar or crackers to help absorb the the acids. Avoid looking down for extended periods of time while taking some time to gaze off at the horizon. Most importantly, catching lots of fish. I suppose the adrenalin helps.
Good luck and have fun.
Joe

CT - check with DepoeBayDan about the charter. He may know or know someone who knows.
