Default Wickiup Family Camping/Fishing Trip

Took the kids and their Aunt Sis camping this past weekend at Wickiup and had a great time. I got to go out fishing in the a.m. on Saturday with Hookjawfreak until 10 a.m. and then spent time with the family the rest of the day. We ended up catching 9 fish for the weekend; 7 browns, 1 for sure kokanee, and 1 coho (I think). My son got his first ever fish, a real pretty 22", 4lb. female brown that he just couldn't release, so we kept for the grill. Real tasty too! My daughter caught the coho and this was her 3rd ever fish, and first in the boat with me! It was a hawg taping in at 18" and weighing 3 pounds!! I also caught some nice browns to 5 pounds too. Just a GREAT trip all around with kin. Good times and memories to last a lifetime!

Here was the 24", 5 pound brown I caught on Saturday with Hookjawfreak:

Here is my son's first ever trout:

Here is my daughter's BIG coho (pretty sure it was not a kokanee, had spots on it's lower back and tail fin):

And finally my 25", 5 pound brown caught with the kids in the boat. This was a priceless moment for me to share with my kids. We released this guy to fight again. The kids really liked seeing him swim off!

Happy fishing all,

R.D, way to get the family in on the action Very cool to see the kiddos out there enjoying your passion too It's nice when you can only put in a few hours a day, spend time with the family and still be blessed with some quality fish.

Question Re: Wickiup Family Camping/Fishing Trip

thanks for the great pics. I love watching kids catch fish, its better than catching them myself. I am heading up to Wickiup for the first time this weekend I have never fished for browns. I am taking my 18 foot boat, (no down riggers) can you give me some tips so the kids can catch a fish? PM me if you like
Thanks hopefully I will have pics next week.

We did pretty good there also, might have crossed your path. We got a 4lb Brown, and 3 nice 20" Kokanee. Started out at O'dell (No good), then Cressent (Also no good), then one night at Wickiup. Fishing pretty good there right now
