John Ritter passed away
LOS ANGELES - John Ritter, whose portrayal of the bumbling but lovable Jack Tripper helped make the madcap comedy series "Three's Company" a smash hit in the 1970s, died of a heart problem after falling ill on the set of his new television sit-com. He was 54...

Re: John Ritter passed away
I tried to rent Sling Blade once and accidentally picked up the short film that the full length was based on. Don't think John Ritter was in that one. I'll have to go rent it.
Remember my father used to say he did not particularly like his physical humor, but always called John Ritter a "good man", because he would often take his mentally retarded brother with him to public events. That always left an impression on me.

Re: John Ritter passed away
Most people don't realize his is the voice of Clifford the big red dog on the OPB kids show. More than one generation will miss him... :depressed: my girls love that show.

Re: John Ritter passed away
John Ritter died of an Aortic Dissection. When I first hear about this this morning, my first thought was of Jennie.....
I don't know how many people know that Aortic Dissection is the primary killer of people with Marfan Syndrome - I also don't know how many people here know that Jennie has Marfans.

Jennie, my thoughts and prayers are still with you, hoping that this will never become a reality for you and yours.

Re: John Ritter passed away
Wheresmybobber, your post made me sup sup a bit. :depressed:
Who knows if he had Marfan. It's the talk of the marfan news list, for sure.
It's frightening, but... I could be hit by a truck, too!
Funny, someone once said, and I don't remember if it was me or someone else...
With Marfans, sure, you could be hit by a truck tomorrow, but... it's just odd being able to see the make, model number and license plate of the truck coming at you.

Re: John Ritter passed away
Ritter was a good guy off the set too. Have never heard a single bad thing about the man. Enjoyed his performances. Very sad thing. lost a co-worker to the same thing about 5 yrs ago. Here one day, gone the next. No chance to say goodbye to loved ones and no time to reconcile. Makes you think twice about how much time you have in this world.

Re: John Ritter passed away
Hi Jen,
I have no idea if John Ritter had Marfan or not, but my guess is that he didn't. This just shows us that no matter who we are, we need to live every day to it's fullest. I have two friends that have suffered brain injuries in the last 18 months who are living testamonials to that. But I do think that this is a good opportunity to raise awareness of both Marfan and Aortic Dissection. As with any disease/disorder/malfunction, the more knowledge we have about signs and symptoms, the better.
I know you have a positive attitude about this, and advocate education in this area, so if nothing more comes of this than a few people reading the link I posted and becoming more informed about Marfan and Aortic Dissection, at least something positive was accomplished.
All any of us can hope for is many, many years of good fishing to come - so lets forget about that truck and enjoy the day!
