I can\'t stand this for 10 days!!!
Dee Dee had eye surgery today, and has to wear one of those awful plastic collars around her neck. You know, the ones that are like a cone, so she can't hurt her stitches?
She is banging into walls, can't go up the stairs, can't drink water, or eat food without making a mess!
Is it always this difficult, or do you think the cone collar is too big?
It's driving me crazy!!!

It's always stinks when our cat has to wear one. He runs into walls, can't fit in his litter box, has problems with his catnaps. I usually take it off him for him to eat and then put it back on.

She will be fine. She would only hurt herself much worse without it.

She will get used to it and do better. They are so pitiful with their jester collars on.

She may get used to it. But, will I?
Scratches on the walls, garbage cans knocked over, scratches on my legs!
I gave her a plate of leftover food, and the bottom scooped it up, and it's all over the couch, now!
ARGH!
Give me another helping of that homeade chocolate pudding I just made, David. I need it!!!

Is it clear plastic? My mother-in-law's dog had to wear one, and the clear one worked better - doesn't impair their vision.

FYI, they're called Elizabethan collars, or E-collars. Named after those fun-loving fashion moguls, the Elizabethans.
A buddy of mine made one for his dog out of a flower pot. It looked completely ridiculous.

Re: I can\'t stand this for 10 days!!!
Yeah, they are Elizabethan collars. I think Dee Dee's is too big. We may trim it down a bit. She can barely make it through the kitchen isles. Dee Dee is big, and weighs a lot, but as a lab, she is shorter than other dogs that weigh this much. I think they measure them by weight. Just a couple inches off the outside, may make a world of difference, and still do the same thing.
She has the clear kind.
