Default Vegas advice

The wife and I are thinking about flying to Vegas for a few days for our 20th aniversary. Any advice? Where to stay? Where not to stay? I don't spend ALL of my time eating and gambling. So, what about some suggestions for shows, and touristy stuff?

Thanks

Shop around for a package deal that includes airfare and hotel. I've only been once - it was for our 20th Anniversary! We stayed at the Mirage, and it was quite nice. If we go back, we might go for Caesar's Palace.

Shows are expensive! There is a free show at the Flamingo that's pretty tacky but amusing. We went to a Cirque du Soleil show "Mystere" it was incredible.

I recently moved from Nevada to oregon.....
1. Mandalay Bay....you'll never have to leave, best pool area in Vegas with all age crowd...outstanding clubs and restaurants
2.Hard Rock....trendy, fun, wild, younger crowd
3. Rio...off strip wild place.

Avoid Paris, New York, Bellagio...too themed out and annoying. Venician worth a visit for the decor...

Hope this helps,

Kurt

Lots of hotties at the Mirage pool. LOTS.

Other advice...regarding Blackjack....never take insurance, always split Aces and 8's, and if possible play 3 hands at once. It's pronounced "cha-chiiiiiing".

Have a good time!

If you wake up in a hotel room packed in ice you might have just lost one of your kidney's.

We just got back from Bellagio and it was great. They are remodeling the upper floors so ask for a low floor to avoid the noise. Otherwise, it is a really classy place with excellent food and good pools. The wife loved it.

The best room for the money is the Venetian. Huge rooms and an interesting place. You never have to go outside. I like the rooms at Paris. When I go with the guys, we go cheap, but central. Bally's and Flamingo are good deals for decent rooms in a good location

Hard Rock Hotel has good bands now and then as does House of Blues. Check out the Lance Burton magic show at Monte Carlo for a reasonably priced show. There's always Celine (gaaaak), Elton John is playing soon. Check out this web page for a list of stuff.

I fall asleep at O and other Cirque shows. I can only stand so much dark sleepy stuff before I nod off. I play poker so I like Bellagio and Mirage for no smoking card rooms.

If you are going to have transportation at your disposal you might want to check out Hover Dam

stay away from the Motel 6 behind the MGM. We were trying to save money last year when we were down for a fight so we stayed there. It seems to be a popular place for the local "business women" .

There are a ton of deals to be made...

Check out the package deals available around. Bally's usually has a deal for a room that's $60 and you get $50 in play coupons when you check in... They arn't the only one with that type of deal.

There are special "anniversary" package deals availible but you have to ask for them. There are even places that specialize in vow renewal packages

I recently spent almost a week at the Mirage.
Very fancy, nice and expensive.
