Default Mole contest... beat this!

Bill just came in with one... Tipped the scales at 5.6 ounces!
He is one proud papa!

Trapped it in one of those old fashioned Victor traps. Still the only way we can get um!

We weigh them on the postal scale!

Jen

I would have carefully released him without removing him from the ground. No photo op here. It is important for these broodstockers to be allowed to spawn.

Catch and release all wild moles!!!

Is that gutted weight or in the round?
What is the state record for that species?

That triggered a flashback. When I was a kid i read some book(fiction) and this kid made a moleskin flybox(?)holder- thingy.I guess the skin tanned out real soft perfect for a soft-fly holder.
Jennie - its you! I can you see whipping out your stash of searun flys to show someone and they start checking out the case-holder. And you proceed to explain the process of trapping, tanning and adding another subdivision to the ifish discussion board-taxidermy.
Come on Jen give it a try telll us how it comes out.

OK. You gut it, and I'll do it.
I'd get sick!

I don't know about weight, but had one a couple of weeks ago that went 7 or 8 inches long. Definitely a "hog". Neighbor called it a mole on steroids....

"went 7 or 8 inches long. Definitely a "hog"."

Maybe it was a triploid or perhaps an escaped farmed mole.

Was he clipped? Or are you meat fishing for wild, native moles?

So is Bill going to get a full body mount or just a head mount? Did he tag it properly?

Was it still warm? You know, there is nothing better for breakfast than some fresh road kill EXCEPT a mole fresh out of the trap.
