when i first went seriously digital i would review the pics i had taken and file them into different folders for organization. now it just goes by date. somtimes i'll go by subject though. PSP is a life saver. that browse feature can't be beat.

I just can't figure out why Adobe doesn't have a browse feature! Weird! It's so easy, so handy!

A perhaps only once in a lifetime shot.

IrfanView has a thumbnail feature that works great. Just hit "T" with any picture already up in the viewer and every picture in the folder comes up in a thumbnail bar on the right of the viewer.

Default Kilchis the deer hunter. :)

I am going through some pictures, trying to file them so I can find them later. What system do you guys use?
I file them by month and year.

Anyway, this one made me smile:

So, really... How do you file your images on your comp? My system works alright... but if I'm looking for a picture and I can't remember the date, I'm left going through tons of images to find them.
One thing useful, is that I have Paint Shop Pro, and it is the only program I know that allows a thumbnail browse feature. I guess win XP does that, sort of, but this is handier.

Anyway... tips on photo file management?

He really is the happiest dog I've ever met.

Perhaps that means there is air in his head. If so, fill me up!

As they say, "Time to pull over and fill up the air in my head!"

Neat pic!

I gotta get a digital...

I missed a great opportunity to get a pic of Boomer, our lab/rot mix that loves playing "cat and mouse " with wild turkey's in the woods outside my office.

He runs up to them like a big tough guy and one of the momma Turkeys puffs up and chases him back to the deck. The other day he was actually hiding behind a tree during his stalk on the turkey's!

Also, the Silver/greys drive him nuts when they let him chase them up a tree then sit up there and chatter at him. I am convinced that dog is going to climb one of those firs one day!

OH, and to answer my own question. I found a great system.
I just make a new folder each month.

jan03
Jan04
Jan05
Feb02
Feb03
Feb04

Etc.... It's great. Sometimes I'll make specific folders, so that if magazines, etc ask for a picture, I have a file full of hummies, goldfinch, deer, salmon, steelhead, etc.

I take the best out of the month and file them.

I rename the JPG file to a short description + the month-year. Save them all in the same folder.

I wrote and posted that question in 03. I have a good handle on it now, but thanks!
