Default The new Atlantic gulf of Wisconsin

This pic was taken during the blackouts a couple weeks ago.

Looks like the area is water eh? I thought to myself "hmm, I wonder how the flounder fishing and lobstering is in the gulf of Wisconsin"

Wow. Every time I see a sat image like this, it amazes me how heavily populated the eastern half of the country is.
No way I could live back there.

1Pump, Using the photo as a map, I lived 200 nautical miles west of Portland Maine  , and you're right, it was overfished.

RVW, my sister lived in that same area (Kennebunkport) for about a year or so. Absolutely hated it. Her husband is a bigwig at Nike and they tranferred him from Beaverton to somewhere in NH (I don't remember the name of the town). Their car had Maine vanity plates that said "OREGON". Just their subtle way of telling everybody that they didn't want to be there.
They also lived for 2 years in Taiwan and did 2 different stints in Korea- both of which they said were preferable to New England.

In Maine, "OREGON" has an "E" at the end... So I bet the license plate really confused them out there!

I was born and raised in the northeast, Ive no desire to return after visiting the Northwest, and 90% of the rest of North America. But there are some very cool things about it that I miss terribly

Kennebunkport? Oh, I was refering to the unlighted mass of land WEST that appears to be water in the photo (where NY, PA, etc used to appear.) Its not difficult (or disapointing) to imagine it as a big body of water VS the overpopulated concrete jungles that are really there.
