Default Anyone familar with northern Minnesota? Ely area?

So, I am headed to a company meeting at a lodge just outside Ely Mn. You never know who hangs out on this board so I thought I would throw the request out there.....
I'll be there Sept 7-13 (missing the Ducks home opener!) and from the looks of the meeting schedule I have plenty of fishing time. Since we are staying on a lake with rental boats I know I'll have no trouble passing the time. Looking forward to going for Northern's and hopefully some fat fall smallie's. I know there is plenty of Walleye too.
Anyone with advice please feel free to share!!

What lake are you staying on and i can give you some help, I used to live there. If you are bound to the shore though i would head south on HWY 1 till tou hit the first bridge of the Kawishawi river there is a dam there you can fish below then head about 1/4 downstream both areas are good for walleyes and smallmouth on 3" twisters.
