Sweet day, a truly memorable experience. Now, tell us how you forgot this and had to drive back home, or broke a rod tip on a fish or something engaging like that.

Re: Fishing Sucks, Catching is Great!!!!!!!!
Splash! Bobber and bait hit the water. Great cast! Drifting, drifting, drifting..... KaSplash!!! Fish jumps 15 feet downstream of the bobber. Better get ready. Click, the bail turns over. Ploop! Bobber down. Swoosh!! Hook is set! FISH ON! Zzzzzz... Fish is going crazy!! KerSPLASH!!! Wow, that fish i huge! Zzzzz... Man, that fish is taking line like crazy. Tighten the drag. Alright, here she comes. Zzzzz... not ready yet. Alright, she's ready. Hand around the tail, reviving her as the camera is getting ready. Camera's ready. Out of the water, CLICK!, back in. Splash! and she's gone. Good work. Beatiful native steelie. That was the first fish of the day. Next cast hit a nice little hatchery buck. Dad's next cast get's a nice hatchery buck. Nada on my next cast. Dad hooks up again. Nice 8lb. native hen. Next few cast nothing, that holes done. Next hole, first cast bobber down, nothing. Dad's next one, bobber down. Fish ON! Nice 10lb. hatchery hen. Next cast, bobber down, nice bright hatchery buck. Right after that fish, the rain started, temperature dropped a few degrees, and fishing was done for the day. Started at 10 done at Noon. Six fish to the bank for nine takedowns. Not a bad day at all. Hot bait was shrimp tail and yarn under a float.

Space Fish- If I wanted everyone to know where we caught the fish I would have told them. That is totally uncool. Have fun on the Siletz! We've never fished it. Jack!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Fishing Sucks, Catching is Great!!!!!!!!
RPN that is why the reports have gone down hill. I do not care where you were fishing, i think it is great that you caught fish and got good pics. As you have seen TY do it, crop your pics so that people can not see the river behind you because somebody else will have fised there before and let everybody know where you were fishing.
If you chase the fish that were caught today, tomorrow. they will probably not be there.

Re: Fishing Sucks, Catching is Great!!!!!!!!
Those down river fish? Boy look how those tail fins are all wore down from building their redds. Look at those swollen anus glands from spawning. The most disgusting thing about this hole thing is this " River " hasn't been stocked since the early 70s. These are all strays, the only reason we fish this " River " is for wild fish. We only pull the hatchery fish out in hopes to keep them from spawning with the wild fish. I will say this they are North Coast Steelhead and were caught in tide water.................

Re: Fishing Sucks, Catching is Great!!!!!!!!
RPN so what your telling me is that the only reason you kept these fish is just to reduce the chance of the spawning with wild fish. That doesn't sound right. I agree with keeping the wilds away from hatchery but I don't agree with killing the hatchery fish to reduce them from spawning with natives. Did you eat the fish?

Re: Fishing Sucks, Catching is Great!!!!!!!!
If I said " Fry Daddy " would that answer your question? We mostly give it away as we aren't great fish eaters and I enjoy the smiles on the people's face's we give it to. I would never kill anything if I wasn't going to eat it. But, there is always a " BUT " I would kill ALL hatchery fish in a river/stream that is a native stream!! As I mentioned earlier this stream hasn't been stalked for over 30 years. This also brings up an important point. Over the last 30 years how many hatchery strays have spawned with the natives? If this has happened which it has then in all actuality then nbone of the native fish we are catching are really native fish are they ??? Which brings up another point if a hatchery fish spawns in the wild and the smolts mature and come back as " Native/Hatchery " fish than are they natives or hatchery fish? All I know is all the native fish we catch kick butt on any hatchery fish and I would rather catch 30 natives a year than 100 hatchery fish, period!!!!!!!! Hatchery fish are meat fish only. A native fish is a gift from GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
