Fern Ridge Report
Got one fish in a side channel just under 2lbs friday. The hot weather has pushed them out deeper I suppose, but that should change this weekend. Purple 5" senko; what else. I may have finally found a job in the Albany area so I may not have to leave the area!!!! Pretty happy about that! Good fishing to all this fall; I think its starting already!

Re: Fern Ridge Report
DJD: Your post sure brings back some memories. My college pals and I would fish Fern Ridge for fall crappies and every once in a while, a bucketmouth would try to swallow our bobbers. Man, those crappies were good eating.

Man , that sounds good! Where did you find those fall crappies; there have been just a few caught this year that I know of, all pretty big ones! Most were caught along the hiway(126)

Re: Fern Ridge Report
DJD: We got them along the highway earlier in the late summer, then off the dam in fall. Miss it!

Boy! I hope you know what your doin" lol! I have been getting beat up out there all week; but the rain might get 'em going. If you are in a boat I would try the mouths of all the tributaries going into the lake, concentrating on reed patches and any kind of wood or docks you can find! Spinnerbaits, crankbaits and , of course, senkos would be my first choices! Good luck to you and let us know how you did! Perhaps I might even see you out there!

Went out friday morning and caught 2 fish in two different spots; one about 8" and one about 10" long. Both fish ate the senko! Hope you guys did better than me!

Re: Fern Ridge Report
Well... we only caught two fish (two keepers we didnt count the 4 inch long fry that would latch onto the end of our senkos). One was 5-2 and the other was 5-0. Those were out only two bites all day though.

Annual drawdown begins Sept 15; in about 2weeks after that you wont be able to launch a boat at any of the marinas(although you can launch a small boat at the dam all winter). During that 2 to 4 week period the fishing can be incredible at times!
