Default Okuma Magda Pro

I have been looking at the MA 20 DLX, and It seems to be the only small round baitcaster that comes left handed with a line counter. Any one use one of them? I am not going after 30# fish just trolling for trout in lakes.

Thanks

I havent used it yet but got one last nite since BiMart has them on sale this week for $30. Yeah they are made in china but seem pretty decent, and would be fine for trout I bet.

I have 2 of the larger version of the same reel used for similar applications and they seem to work fine.

We have three of the 20's we use for Salmon and they have held up well. They also make a 15 Magda that I was thinking of getting for Koke trolling

I have 3 of the 15 Magda Pros that I use for kokanee trolling (and for shad) and they've been great little reels.

Waterfish,

How much smaller are the 15's than the 20's do you know?

I have 3 of the Magda Pro 20's. They are all I have used for Kokanee trolling over the last 4 years. Line counter is a great feature to let you control how far back or down you are. I am happy and have had no problems with them.

I just checked the comparison table at FishUSA. It seems odd, but both reels are listed as weighing 13.1 oz. The MA-15DX holds 240 yrds of 14 lb line, while the MA-20 DX holds 290 yds of 14 lb line.

So it sounds like they are pretty much the same reel with a little smaller spool.
