I think a big part of the reason it dies this time of year is because of the lack of bigger fish that are caught in the summer. Bigger fish = more pics and more pics = more post. Or at least that is my guess. I base this on the fact that I talk to people all the time and get report but I never seen any of them post since they didn't catch anything pic worthy.

OK now I will see if I can kick some life back into the Forum.

After all the trouble I have had lately(see the last 3 threads started by me) I took a few weeks off but I am now back to fishing.

Saturday I took a backseat in Dragon67's boat and we fished the Willy out of Newberg. From 6am till about 9:30am I caught 11 and he caught 6. All smallies and only one over 2lbs. From about 9:30 till 12:30 I caught one and he caught one. Talk about the bite going dead.

On Tuesday I finally got my boat back on the water and took Cliff out for a ride on the Willy in Salem. The fishing was absolutly great. The catching was a whole nother story. I racked up only 4 smb and one of them might have been 12inches if I streched him out a little and the rest you be lucky if they were 8 inches. Cliff has a few on but failed to land any smallies. Cliff did manage to land a first on my boat. He hooked into and landed a fire extinguiser and not just a small one like I have on my boat but a bigger one. I have a pic on my camera that I still need to download. Despite the poor catching we had a lot of fun.

I am headed out tonight to fish the Willy in Newberg so I will have a report on Monday.

And Basshound I am still working things out to get you out sometime in Sept.

The summer is not easy, but the fall is almost here.

I did manage to catch a decent one this week. Took Wednesday off to take a buddy out who works Th-M.... it was tought fishing but manage one decent one, along with a some barely legals and a few shorts

She was a solid 4lbs (meaning 3lbs 15oz , but being as it's summer I am rounding up) and the biggest smallie I have caught in a couple of months. Caught on a drop shot in about 20' of water.....

I hope I can catch her again in the Spring.

Sweet. yea things are a bit slow now. Dan has had a little luck but its not taken off yet. Soon though. September should bring better catches. I once Had a GREAT day on the first rainy, cloudy, foggy, windy day in september on cottage grove. Nothing under 4lbs that day.

My buddy and I were wondering the same thing, "why are people not posting?"
So we went out on wednesday and had quite the day. We fished he CR and the first fish was a 5# largemouth on a spook....and it only got better from there! By the days end we had hooked over 75 smallies, 5 were between 3.5 and 4.5 pounds and many in the 2-3 pound range.

We didnt take any pictures, sorry not time to get the camera out when your busy boating meanmouths!

So why are people not posting?

A bunch! most were on my favorite lipless cranks and jigs. We found one wolf pack and they went nuts there for a while.

I personally have pretty much quit posting on here, because I am lazy. I would rather fish than type. See ya on Wed. 1BigFish.

I was with McSquidly that day on the CR. The last spot we hit I believe I hooked 12 fish in probably 20 casts on a lipless crank that was gathering some good mojo--right before the line snapped and the meanmouth swam off with it. Noooooo!! I tied on another of similar color but the wolf pack refused it and my confidence was shot.

It was a great day but this bassin' ain't a cheap sport!

I may have to load up on those cranks, they are just too good!!

As they say...."if you want to play you have to pay". And boy have I paid! I dont even want to think about the total $$ or I would never take my boat out again.
