Arnold Schwartzenegger political humor
"They're saying Arnold will get 95% of the vote. At least according to his brother, Jeb Schwarzenegger." —Craig Kilborn
"Earlier today, Arnold Schwarzenegger criticized the California school system, calling it disastrous. Arnold says California's schools are so bad that its graduates are willing to vote for me." —Conan O'Brien
"Here's a little known fact — Arnold is the first body builder to run for governor since Janet Reno." —David Letterman
"Apparently Arnold was inspired by President Bush, who proved you can be a successful politician in this country even if English is your second language." —Conan O'Brien
"Yesterday Jerry Springer bowed out of the Ohio Senate race. He said, 'If I can't run the most embarrassing campaign in America, then I'm out of here.'" —Craig Kilborn
"President Bush has been silent on Schwarzenegger. Of course, he can't pronounce Schwarzenegger." —David Letterman
"It's official, Arnold said he will enter the race for governor. At least that's what everybody thinks he said." —David Letterman
"Finally, a candidate who can explain the Bush administration's positions on civil liberties in the original German." —Bill Maher, on Arnold Schwarzenegger
"Arnold Schwarzenegger has still not officially bowed out of this race. It looks like he's not gonna run. But I'll tell ya, if Arnold does run, he better get on the ballot, because you don't want a write-in with a name like Arnold Schwarzenegger. Because people will go — 'Schwarz, schwarz, oh Davis is easier.'" —Jay Leno
"There's all this talk about Arnold Schwarzenegger. Well, you know where he is now? Visiting Mexico, which I think means that he is definitely going to run for governor. Arnold is smart. He's in Mexico campaigning with the very people who'll be living here by election time." —Jay Leno

That's the one good thing about that circus in California. The jokes are practically writing themselves.

Re: Arnold Schwartzenegger political humor

Re: Arnold Schwartzenegger political humor
I've got five bucks that sez Arnold wins.
Then the Republicans will have to figure out what to do when the second most visible member of their party supports gun control, abortion choice, and fiscal responsibility.
And the Democrats will have to figure out what to do when a moderate republican coopts all their button pushing issues.

<font size="2" face="verdana, arial, helvetica">No way I would take that bet SH I think he'll win too  I think all the stand-up commedians should chip in to Arnold's campaign! After all just look at the material he is giving them for their stand-up act.

<font size="2" face="verdana, arial, helvetica">Friends of mine in Sacramento think it IS a joke...not the system...the electorate. Gray Davis may be a classic bureaucratic democrat...but dumping him now and replacing with a 3rd rate movie actor sure doens't sound like a productive thing to do. My friends, like many Californians, feel disenfranchised (easy to do in a state with 33 million citizens)....as if they have any voice at all. So they are sitting back and watching.
People and their unrealistic, sometimes irrational expectations are the problem.
Right now the board of my power provider...a small rural cooperative with 19 employees and about 4000 customers...is looking into merging with a neighboring small rural cooperative as a means of cost cutting and keeping power rates low...just what everyone wants. Except now, apparently spearheaded by co-op employees or their wives, there is a yardsign campaign demanding the merger be tabled and threatening the board with recall if they don't "listen to us". We haven't even heard the proposal yet, don't know how much money would be saved or if any jobs would be lost...yet a sizable percentage of the customers, apparently thinking merger would result in major job losses for the employees or slow service, have formed firm opinions about it...

Re: Arnold Schwartzenegger political humor
Personally I think it would be a refreshing change. The problem with politics is that there are too many politicans! Arnold definitely is not a 'normal joe usa citizen' but can a normal citizen afford to run for office anymore? I heard Davis this morning on the radio and he was spouting the typical party-line BS, blaming the GOP for all his problems etc etc. Kinda pathetic.

Re: Arnold Schwartzenegger political humor
We in Portland had a chance to vote a young man named Jake into the Mayors Office a few years back. Now I wish he would have won. BTW I voted for him. Last Mayoral election I voted for myself. Funny thing was is that I found out I actually got 6 votes that year. Mom, Dad, My wife, Sister, Brother in law and myself. Did'nt cost me a dime.
The real joke is Gary Colman.

Re: Arnold Schwartzenegger political humor
Hmmm...amidst all the hoopla everybody seems to have forgotten that Davis is still governor unless he's recalled. One thing I thought was rather weird- even if you vote "no" on the recall, you can still vote for your favorite Davis replacement (it's on the same ballot) Makes sense, but still kinda strange. Like voting with a safety net, or voting for 2 candidates.

You are a genius GSA Something like this could only happen in California
Doesn't matter which party Arnold is a member of it's so absurd that it's funny! The guy does not have a clue and won't tell anyone what his plans are for the state BUT I would wager he will win though
