Re: Ancestery, while were on the subject.
Last year at my employer's xmas party some dude showed up in a kilt. You can imagine how that went over with a bunch of toothless truck drivers.
Me: Mostly *** , with an unhealthy dash of Anglo/Irish.
Man, that word filter is picky! Mostly Italian, it should say. Jeez!

Re: Ancestery, while were on the subject.
My ancestry is predominantly Swedish, Germanic & English...but I'm an American...a native American.
Back when I worked for the large corporation we had to turn in annual "personality profiles" and one year I checked the box for Native American. It took about a month for the head Human Resources guy to come by my office to discretely inquire which tribal affiliation I claimed. After making him squirm for a while I admitted I wasn't THAT kind of native American...and he went away releived...or perhaps disappointed (at having lost a potentially reportable minority?).
If I had it to do over, I'd claim Native American status and stick to it all the way!

Re: Ancestery, while were on the subject.
If you knew me, my ancestory would explain a lot.
Hard headed Dutch, dumb Pollock with a little American Indian thrown in for whatever. And to top it all off I was born in Japan.

½ Norwegian
¼ French
¼ a bit of everything else
Guess that makes me an American too.

Re: Ancestery, while were on the subject.
Spanish, Mexican, Austrian, Hungarian, German, English, Irish, and French. And I got the worst attributes of all of them! Plus, through marriage, there's Japanese, Phillipino, African American, Italian, Greek, and on and on and on in my family. Any sort of ethnic joke you tell will offend my ancestory, and I'll be obligated to defend my family's honor with pistols at ten paces! Unless of course, you're telling French jokes, then the Frenchman in me will just surrender, like all French do!

Re: Ancestery, while were on the subject.
I'm 100% Italian American. My wife is half Finnish and half Irish. That makes her "Firish" (Pronounced Fire-ish). Very fitting. I think it's the "Fin" thing that first attrated me.

Re: Ancestery, while were on the subject.
On the subject of ancestry - I once heard of a fisherman that was half Norwegian and half Japanese. Seems that every December 7th he'd attack Pearl Olsen.
Norwegian, Swede, and German on Dad's side. English, Scotch, and Irish on Mom's.
