Default keeper sturgeon

On average, how many shakers and oversized sturgeon do you catch to every keeper? I was wondering how much time I'm going to have to put in before getting the keeper. Either way it is a blast.

last year I had 6 keepers and probably 300 shakers, the year before I put 8 keepers on my tag and probably 400 shakers.

Started gator fishing5 weekends ago. First two weekends we only got a couple shakers each day. Frankly I didn't have a clue as to what I was doing. Then tacklebuster wrote a tutorial on gator fishing. I follwed his guidance and started using pickled smelt, and have boated keepers everytime since then, amongst the 150 or so shakers. Never had an oversize. Yesterday, just up the MC from scapoose marina, we got 3 keepers, 2 at 43" and 1 at 47", and about 25 shakers to the boat. Most in the 35-40" range. For some strange reason, my wife - who never fished before and wasn't really interested- has caught the biggest each time out, and gets the most shakers. She is now asking me if we need to pickle more smelt and is setting up trips with boatless friends. I have created a monster....

On the east side, with a 48" to 60" slot, for me it seems that the ratio of shakers to legals is at least 25/1. I measure my catch in the water and accuracy is not always possible, but I do see a lot of fish between 42" and 47 1/2".
good luck
