is there an arborist in the house?
we just had a major portion of our beloved cherry tree split off and fall in our back yard. this thing is FREAKIN' HUGE, much larger than your average cherry tree. if you don't believe me, pics will be posted soon. anyway, i'm going need some advice as to how to get this thing squared away. part of the problem is that it's still hanging off of the main stem of the tree and the body of it is laying across my shed. i get the feeling that any attempts to deal with this without using a crane will result in the complete destruction of my shed and the very precious white oak i've been crafting for my drifter.
as an aside, if anyone has a chainsaw mill, i'd like to get some 8' sections of the largest part of this tree milled into rough lumber that i can finish out later for furniture projects. (it's never too soon to be thinking ahead).

You might try posting in the general for sale board also. Bummer about your tree....

Re: is there an arborist in the house?
There is a guy outside of Newberg that has a mobile SawMill. Craziest thing I ever saw (no punn Intended) but he stays busy and for this situation I think you should give him a call. I honestly can't think of his # off the top of my head but i believe I have his Business card at Work. If interested let me know I will look for it and give you his # he will bring a full operational Saw mill right to your house and take care of that in a flash, and have some nice 2x4's and 2x6's for his trouble.

Ay yi yi!
Cherry ... could be some nice trim on that boat!
If you live in the city limits, you might try the city (parks dept?) to see if they have an arborist on staff, or a recommendation of someone.

Probably easier to move the shed until cleanup is finished. You might find that pair of pliers you have been looking for too.

You might try Fishalot. Galehon's Tree and Landscape Maintence 503-493-8733 or 503-319-8683. Dylan may have some ideas for ya. He's a good guy and an i-fish-er too.

Re: is there an arborist in the house?
ampersat,
I have a freind at work that just had some big trees removed from his around his house. The guy he went with came in with a bid that was half what all the others wanted to charge for the same services. He told me this guy did a great job for him and left his place looking very god afterwards. Unfortunately my freind is out sick today but I could get you some contact info tommorow if you are interested. Oh, by the way, he was local to you, beaverton/aloha area.
