Anchor brackets & rollers
I know there was a thread about anchor brackets a while back. So far the only brackets/ rollers I have been able to find on the internet is the one made by motion marine. Can anyone tell me about others and their experiences with them. I am in the market for an anchor bracket. Thanks a bunch

Re: Anchor brackets & rollers
MBT,I just bought one from North River at the sportsman show, not sure who made it,but it looks like the one Motion Marine makes. I know Big Water makes one, have you done a archives check yet? Lots of good info in there.

Re: Anchor brackets & rollers
They are about twice the price of the MM unit. Well worth it for me 'cause I run six feet of chain with the shackles and all (don't have to worry about it kicking out.)

Re: Anchor brackets & rollers
Yes the price of a MM anchor bracket is more appealing to me.

Re: Anchor brackets & rollers
The MM price appealed to me too.....until I tried to pull the ball, chain, and anchor up a few times. I will have the Big Water unit before years end. No matter the cost.

Re: Anchor brackets & rollers
MM and MBT,
The Big Water is more expensive, but IMHO more versatile.
1. It can accomodate most types of rocker anchors, round or square stock, or more than two pairs of tines.
2. The puller and bouy can be reteived through the opening w/out jumping out.
3. The unit sits up above the deck, so that when launching or trailering the anchor tines clear most objects, like spare tire.
I have found that no one anchor system does everything we want. This is why I can chose from three types of systems or more if I adapt them to my set up. I have a "can" style, the Big Water and a plain roller style. The base is two pieces of alum. angle welded to the bow w/ two holes drilled for pinning a piece of 1" x 2" solid alum. stock. The rectangular stock is the base that I adapt to (a 4" x 6" plate for the Big Water or the "can" for the cylindrical type anchors)
Hope this helps, Kurt

Re: Anchor brackets & rollers
I highly recommend the Motion Marine bracket. I have had mine for several years and it works great at keeping the anchor in the ready position and out of the way.
I purchased a heavy anchor that had bar stock in a diameter that was larger than what my bracket would accomodate. The bracket is easy to file and I had no trouble making the opening larger to fit my anchor.

Re: Anchor brackets & rollers
The NORTH RIVER anchor nest is made by NORTH RIVER and works as good as the big water and better than the mm the new design works well and is kinder to the billfold than both this is just my un bias view

Re: Anchor brackets & rollers
The Big Water Anchor Assist was designed to work with the anchor pullers and chain coming through the widened opening in the anchor rest. The opinions and reviews reflected to us indicate that it works superior to any of the other ones on the market. We made it to work with the pullers on the market at the request of anchor fishing Guides. We are prohibited from advertizing or soliciting on this site, but we are fishermen and anchor pullers too. If you want to choose the best, include ours in your analysis. Thanks.

Larry could you send me your web address via my email address provided. That way neither of us would get into trouble with the Ifish website. Thanks a bunch.

Re: Anchor brackets & rollers
I have a Motion Marine style,, I did drill though the holder and anchor and put a pin in. I keep the pin in while underway or trailering. It ensures the anchor will not jump out.

Re: Anchor brackets & rollers
Yes, I run the pin through the chain on my smaller anchor. And wrap the chain on the cleat for on the water use.

Re: Anchor brackets & rollers
That picture of the big water anchor bracket has me curious, there is a pin on it, it looks like it should go thru the anchor but is too high, does it go thru the chain???? What keeps the anchor in place?
