Default Rob Voss (Marine Tech & TR-1 Expert) to Astoria

Hey guys - FYI - I am on my way up to Astoria on Monday. I can handle electrical, electronics, autopilots and steering systems. Anyone between Astoria and Newport that needs work done, let me know and we will get you on the schedule.

Rob,
TR-1 question. I use the idle/resume function often (usually when we get a fish-on). Lately, the function takes to kicker to idle okay. But the function fails to resume the motor back to the speed (tach). Motor remains at idle when I push idle/resume again.
Any advice on this matter is appreciated.

It must be because the little black anti-rotate block on the end of the shaft is not fully depressing the switch when you go to idle, or if it looks like it is, then the switch is no good.

Robert,
Sorry for the long time between reply. My excuse is B10 fishing.

Anyway, I looked at the TR-1 Throttle control on my T-8. The switch is corroded and stuck. Looks like the switch is not very "marine" worthy. I have owned the unit for about 1.5yrs.

Also note, this throttle control was replaced under warranty due to a defect (I believe a shorted capacitor) that also took out the ECU.

Do you know if it is possible to get just the replacement switch? I am fairly proficient at circuit board soldering.

Thank you for the help

Gary

Default Marine electronics & TR-1 tech to Astoria

I am tentatively planning to come back up over labor day weekend, if I can get a couple more jobs to help offset the costs of making the trip. We do electrical, electronics & system integrations, autopilots and steering systems.

Currently there is a lot of networking I have been doing. Systems integration of GPS, VHF, autopilot, etc. As summer comes to a close and the weather starts to turn, don't get caught unprepared. Do you know, does the DISTRESS button on your VHF work? Do you have an MMSI number, and have it programmed in the boat? If you do not, your DSC functions and distress button are non-functional. If you were caught in the fog, does your radar work, and is your autopilot able to go to GPS waypoints? Ever think of adding AIS to your boat, so you would know who (most) all the boats are and what they are doing at the time, what direction they are traveling, and how fast, etc?

Let us know, we do it all!
