Default Fly fishing around Diamond Lake

Are there any good, small, trout streams down by Diamond Lake? I want to do some fly fishing next week and don't feel like fishing the big water of the lake. That, and I've never been in that part of the state.

Thanks!

I'm a complete newbie at flyfishing so I'm looking for fairly small water; mainly creeks to pretty small rivers that I can wade in.

I wish I could help you with that but I have only been up in that area a few times. I have ony driven through there. There should be a good number of people on ifish who could answer that. sorry

If you are just learning, don't toss out Diamond Lake right away. Lakes can be a great way to practice castings without obstacles and, if you are lucky, you can cast to rising fish. I had some of my best lake fly fishing ever at Diamond Lake this year.

If you're coming from the Roseburg exit of 1-5, you'll drive right along the NF of the Umpqua which is fantastic steelhead water, and should give it a shot. Some of the best water there is about 45 min from D Lake.

I believe the upper rogue is stocked with trout by ODFW. Just find a place to pull out along the hwy 140?? where it follows the river.

Thanks packer! That's the kind of info I was hoping for. I'd rather get out and hike through the woods than sit on the pontoon boat and float around a lake.

Thank you!
